GNAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week Report #14

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Yasmine Santos, Mitchell (Sr., G/F)

Mitchell senior Yasmine Santos closed out the GNAC regular season with two more impressive performances averaging 38.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as the Mariners earned two victories. She began the week with a double-double against Rivier, scoring 37 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She also had two assists against the Raiders. She continued her big scoring performances in the regular-season finale against Norwich. She registered a career-high 40 points, including her 1000th career point, while also bringing in eight boards and dishing out two assists. Santos shot 50.0 percent (23-for-46) from the floor this week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Haley Lightbody, Regis (Gr., G/F)

Regis' Haley Lightbody put together a solid performance in the final week of the GNAC regular season, averaging 9.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per contest. She also contributed 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game to fill out her well-rounded week. She scored seven points to go along with 31 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block against Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday (Feb. 14). She followed that up with her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points, 12 boards, and five assists in a winning effort against Johnson & Wales.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Paris Atuahene, Emmanuel - Helped Emmanuel to three wins this week with a well-rounded performance, averaging 15.0 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.7 steals per game. Had stellar ball-control games against Dean and Anna Maria with seven steals in each contest, while dishing out eight assists against the Bulldogs, and nine against the AMCATS.

Maren McGinn, Norwich - Averaged a double-double despite two losses for Norwich. Contributed 19.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 76.2 percent (16-for-21) from the floor.

Madi Zancan, Regis - Averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game this week. Scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half to help Regis erase an 18-point deficit and force overtime at Colby-Sawyer. Just missed a double-double against Johnson & Wales with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Lyric Grumblatt, Rivier - Scored 31 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and handed out five assists in a loss to Mitchell. Also came away with three steals and a block in the contest.
