2009 GNAC Women's Volleyball Championship Final Set
#1 Seed Emerson College and #2 Seed Johnson & Wales University will compete in the 2009 GNAC Women's Volleyball Championship. The match will be played on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1:00 PM at Emerson's Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium.

GNAC Rookies of the Week: October 27
Kyle Buscagila (Mens Soccer, Norwich), Christina Gallart (Womens Volleyball, Mount Ida), Samantha Gigliotti (Womens Soccer, Albertus Magnus), Kyle Harper (Mens Golf, Rhode Island College) and Jenna Reid (Womens Tennis, Emmanuel) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookies of the Week.

Christina Annicelli (Womens X-Country, Lasell), Danielle Figueroa (Womens Soccer, Albertus Magnus), Kenna Finlayson (Womens Volleyball, Rivier), Kyle Harper (Mens Golf, Rhode Island College), Sabrina Salmela (Womens Tennis, Simmons College), Matthew Scully (Mens X-Country, Lasell), and Kevin Shirley (Mens Soccer, Emmanuel) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookies of the Week.

GNAC Players of the Week: October 6
Caprice Capacci (Womens Cross Country, Emerson), Ashley Costantino (Womens Volleyball, Johnson & Wales), Megan Harrington (Womens Tennis, Emmanuel), Jamal Howard (Mens Soccer, Albertus Magnus), Bobby Newcomb (Mens Golf, Johnson & Wales), Greg Redfield (Mens Cross Country, Johnson & Wales), Samantha Reynolds (Womens Soccer, Johnson & Wales), Jenna Ross (Womens Volleyball, Emmanuel) and Lauren Zaniboni (Womens Volleyball), have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Players of the Week. Will Pike (Mens Soccer, St. Josephs (ME)) and Elizabeth Stickley (Womens Soccer, Lasell) were named Goalkeepers of the Week.

Rivier Tabbed to Win GNAC in Preseason Coaches Poll
Rivier has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the Great Northeast Athletic Conference volleyball title this season in a vote by the conferences head coaches. The Raiders, the 2007 and 2008 GNAC champions, received seven of the possible 13 first-place votes, tallying 90 overall points. Rivier is coming off a season in which they compiled an 11-1 conference record (25-11 overall).

Emerson Women's Volleyball Receives NEWVA Academic Team Award
The Emerson College Women's Volleyball team has earned the Team Academic Award from the New England Women's Volleyball Association. Emerson is one of only 15 Division III teams in the New England region to qualify for the Award, and is the only Great Northeast Athletic Conference team to be recognized. To earn the award a team must compile a composite grade point average of 3.3 or better on a 4.0 scale for the Fall 2008 semester. Emerson qualified with a 3.319 team average.

Rivier Women's Volleyball Wins 2008 GNAC Championship
Nashua, N.H.. Top seeded Rivier College womens volleyball won a hard fought battle for the second straight season against #2 seed Johnson & Wales University, 3-1 at the Muldoon Health & Fitness Center on Saturday afternoon.

Rivier Selected As GNAC Women's Volleyball Preseason Favorite
Defending GNAC tournament champion Rivier has been selected first in the 2008 GNAC womens volleyball preseason poll with 136 points. Johnson & Wales was a very close second with 135 points, followed by Emerson and Norwich, respectively.

Rivier Claims 2007 GNAC Women's Volleyball Championship
Providence, R.I. Junior Nicole Hersey (Milton, N.H.) was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2007 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship after leading #2 seed Rivier to a thrilling 3-2 victory against #1 seed Johnson & Wales at the Harborside Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. Rivier played flawless right out of the gates and jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 30-20 victory in set one. Johnson & Wales rebounded with a 30-26 win in game two and a 30-28 win in game three. Rivier knotted the match with a 30-26 win in the fourth game. In the fifth and deciding game, the two teams battled until the very end. The Raiders, faced with a seemingly insurmountable 12-14 deficit, showed no signs of giving in and rattled off 4 straight points to take a 16-14 win en route to the 3-2 victory.
