2009 GNAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship Information Available
The 2009 GNAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Rivier College.

GNAC Players of the Week: October 13
Jeremy Allen (Mens Cross Country, St. Josephs (ME)), Meghan Crozier (Womens Volleyball, Lasell), Eric Dabdoub (Mens Soccer, Emerson), Brooke MacKenzie (Womens Soccer, Simmons), Maile Macleod (Womens Tennis, Simmons), Katie Murphy (Womens Cross Country, St. Josephs (ME)), and Bryan Picinisco (Mens Golf, Rhode Island College) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Players of the Week. Will Pike (Mens Soccer, St. Josephs (ME)) and Elizabeth Stickley (Womens Soccer, Lasell) were named Goalkeepers of the Week for the second week in a row.

Christina Annicelli (Womens X-Country, Lasell), Danielle Figueroa (Womens Soccer, Albertus Magnus), Kenna Finlayson (Womens Volleyball, Rivier), Kyle Harper (Mens Golf, Rhode Island College), Sabrina Salmela (Womens Tennis, Simmons College), Matthew Scully (Mens X-Country, Lasell), and Kevin Shirley (Mens Soccer, Emmanuel) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookies of the Week.

Katherine Chambers (Womens Soccer, St. Josephs Maine), Laura Furfaro (Womens Cross Country, JWU), Kasey Higgins (Womens Volleyball, JWU), Matt Munden (Mens Golf, UMass Dartmouth), Sabrina Salmela (Womens Tennis, Simmons), Mathew Scully (Mens Cross Country, Lasell), and Mike Skelton (Mens Soccer, Lasell) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookies of the Week.

GNAC Student-Athletes To Volunteer At The 6th Annual Brian J. Honan 5K Road Race
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference will continue its tradition of volunteering at The 6th Annual Brian J. Honan 5K Road Race, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 20th at noon. Last year over 100 GNAC student-athletes volunteered at the Brian Honan 5K by directing people to the parking lots, registering the more than 1000 runners, cutting oranges, carrying ice, and supporting runners and walkers along the three mile course.

Emmanuel's LaRiviere Named GNAC Woman of the Year
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has named Cathryn LaRiviere of Emmanuel College as its 2009 Woman of the Year award winner. The Saints cross country/track and field runner will represent the GNAC as its nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

LaRiviere Named Academic All-District
Emmanuel College's senior cross country and track & field team captain Cathryn Lariviere (Windham, N.H.) was selected to The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1st Team. Lariviere's most recent honor was officially announced on June 4, 2009. The Academic All-District selections are nominated and voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The selections make up first and second teams from the college and university divisions of eight different districts nationwide. Lariviere was one of just ten women chosen from the college division in the New England/New York region of the country.
Saint Joseph (CT) Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award
The Saint Joseph College (CT) Cross Country Team has been named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national All-Academic Team as announced by the association last week.

Saint Josephs College (ME) Claims 2008 GNAC Women's Cross Country Championship
Host Saint Joseph's won the team championship, placing four runners in the top ten, led by senior Alysn Ludwig who was competing in cross country for the first time. Emmanuel's Cathryn Larivere capped off her outstanding season by winning the 2008 conference championship held at Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

The 2008 GNAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship will take place on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

Saint Joseph's ME Wins 2007 GNAC Women's Cross Country Championship
Standish, ME - Three Saint Joseph's College Women finished in the top ten as the Monks earned the GNAC Championship in a 5K race held at the St. Joe's home course on Saturday. Finishing 5th overall and the best time for the Monks was SR Sarah Willis (Buckland, ME) with a time of 21:18. FY Katie Murphy (Baileyville, ME) (21:41) finished 8th and SO Shannon Marden (Dover-Foxcroft, ME) 10th (22:25). All three runners earned All-Conference Honors for finishing in the top ten overall.
