GNAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week Report #9

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Yasmine Santos, Mitchell (Sr., G/F)

Mitchell senior Yasmine Santos compiled more impressive stats this week averaging a strong double-double with 37.5 points and 14.0 rebounds per game. Additionally, she averaged 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per contest. Santos started the week with 36 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists against Albertus Magnus on Wednesday (Jan. 10). She followed that up with a career-high 39 points and 14 rebounds with three steals. She shot 55.6 percent (25-for-45) from the floor.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Meagan Schuermann, Emmanuel (Fy., G)

Emmanuel first-year guard Meagan Schuermann had a strong week for the Saints as they went 2-0 in conference play. She had back-to-back 20-plus-point games, starting with a 21-point, four rebound performance against Lasell on Wednesday (Jan. 10). She also had two assists and four steals against the Lasers. Followed that up with 20 points and three rebounds to go along with two more assists in a win over Norwich on Saturday (Jan. 13). For the week, she averaged 20.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Jakara Murray-Leach, Albertus Magnus - Averaged a double-double with 20.0 point sand 11.0 rebounds per game. Also contributed 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per contest as Albertus Magnus went 1-1 for the week. Posted a doubled-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds in a loss to Saint Joseph's (Maine).

Marinique Reddin, Anna Maria - Averaged a double-double with 27.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Anna Maria. Posted 30 points and 11 rebounds, while adding four assists and two steals in a loss to the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) before chipping in 25 points, 18 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block in a victory over Johnson & Wales.

Maren McGinn, Norwich - Posted a career-best 31 points against Rivier, while hauling down 14 caroms and snagging three steals. Also tallied 10 points and nine caroms against Emmanuel. Shot 64.3 percent (18-for-28) from the floor, averaging 20.5 points and 11.5 boards between the two games.

Madi Zancan, Regis - Notched a double-double at Fitchburg State, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds along with three assists and two steals. Led the Pride with 25 points plus collected seven rebounds, two assists, and four steals in a win over Mitchell.

Jordan Ouellette, Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Averaged a double-double during a 2-0 week for the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), posting 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Scored 20 points and brought in nine rebounds in a victory over Anna Maria. Recorded a double-double, posting 20 points and 13 rebounds in the victory at Rivier.
