GNAC Women's Basketball Report: Week 14

GNAC TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Shyla Osmond, Albertus Magnus (Sr., G - New Haven, Conn.)

Osmond collected her fifth GNAC Player of the Week award to close out the regular season, averaging 33.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals in a 2-0 week for Albertus, while shooting 49.1% (27-55) from the field, 55.6% (5-9) from behind the arc and 58.3% (7-12) from the free-throw line. She poured in a career-high 48 points with 10 rebounds, two assists and four steals in a 80-63 road win against JWU. She followed up by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, three steals and a block in a 69-50 win over Anna Maria. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Meredith Forman, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., F - Bristol, Conn.)

Forman averaged 7.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Blue Jays, highlighted by a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double in a 60-42 victory over Anna Maria 


WEEK 14 HONOR ROLL

Tianna Sugars, Colby-Sawyer (Sr, C - Oxford, Maine) - Sugars led the Chargers to a pair of GNAC victories to close out the regular season and lock up the No. 6 seed in the GNAC Tournament. She averaged 17.5 points (50%), 10.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in the two road wins, beginning the week with 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting, along with seven boards, three steals and two blocks in a key 63-60 win at Suffolk. The Chargers are the lone GNAC team to defeat the Rams at home this season. Sugars ended the week with her 15th double-double of the year. She posted 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks in a 62-43 regular season finale victory at USJ. 

Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, G - Cambridge, Mass.) - YRT closed out the regular-season with a monster double-double in a 68-62 win over Lasell, scoring 20 points (8-27 FG, 4-6 FT) to go along with a career-high 21 rebounds for her nation-leading 19th double-double of the season. The senior captain added six assists and two steals over 34 minutes of action to help secure the Saints earned a share of the GNAC regular-season crown, finishing 9-2 in league play to nail down the top tournament seed. 

Raelynn Voislow, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Jr., G - Windsor Locks, Conn.) - In USJ's season finale, the junior had 16 points (6-11 FG, 4-8 3PT), eight rebounds and three assists in a 60-42 setback to Anna Maria. 

Jenni-Rose DiCecco, Suffolk (Jr., G - Falmouth, Mass.) - DiCecco averaged 12.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Rams.
