GNAC Women's Basketball Report: Week 3

( FOR THE WEEK OF NOV. 25 - DEC. 1 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Shyla Osmond, Albertus Magnus (Sr., G - New Haven, Conn.)

Playing all 40 minutes in both games of a 2-0 week, Osmond averaged 27.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 4.5 steals for the Falcons. The senior began her week with her first-career triple double, registering 34 points (13-27 FG, 8-8 FT), 11 rebounds and 10 assist with four steals in a 71-63 victory over Western Connecticut State on Tuesday. Osmond followed that performance up with 20 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and five steals to lead Albertus to a 73-65 triumph on Sunday over Endicott, which advanced to the CCC Championship last season. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jayne Howe, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Fr., G - Pembroke, Mass.)

Howe averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 68.8% (11-16) from the floor and 75% (3-4) from three-point range in a 2-0 week for the Monks. The freshman guard scored 16 points off a 7-for-10 shooting effort in a win over UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday.


WEEK 3 HONOR ROLL

Maddy Moro, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., C - Catawissa, Pa.) - Moro posted a 19-point, 16-rebound double-double in JWU's only game of the week, a 65-58 overtime victory at Elms. She was 7-of-15 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the FT line in what marked her fourth double-double in five games.

Amanda Ortiz, Lasell (Sr., G - Newton, Mass.) - Ortiz recorded a double-double in Lasell's only game of the week, putting up a season-high 27 points (11-20 FG) and 12 rebounds in a 93-70 loss to Framingham State. She was 5-of-8 from the FT line and also collected two assists, two steals and two blocks. Ortiz has now scored at least 20 points in five straight games.

Katryna Veasey, Regis (Mass.) (Sr., F - Quincy, Mass.) - Veasey led Regis in scoring as the Pride won their fourth straight game Tuesday at Fitchburg State. In just 23 minutes off the bench, she hit 5-of-7 shots on her way to a 12-point, five-rebound performance. Veasey has scored at least eight points and pulled down at least four rebounds in all six games she has played this season, including 10 points or more in five of those contests. 

Jenni-Rose DiCecco, Suffolk (Jr., G - Falmouth, Mass.) - DiCecco shot 8-of-11 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from three, for 20 points to go with three rebounds, three assists and four steals in a 63-47 win on the road over Curry.
