GNAC Softball Report: Week 8

( FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 15-21 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kerry Sendrick, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr., 2B - Medway, Mass.)

Sendrick hit safely in all four games for Emmanuel, posting a .538 batting average (7-for-13) to go along with a .625 OBP and gaudy 1.154 slugging percentage. Three of her seven hits were for extra bases including two home runs and a triple, all coming in Emmanuel wins. The second basemen enjoyed a 4-for-4 game in a win over Regis, scoring four runs to go along with four RBI. Her home run against Suffolk broke a 2-2 tie and propelled EC to a 5-3 win. On the week she scored eight runs, drove in eight runs and drew three walks.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Megan Kieselback, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr., SP - Wethersfield, Conn.)

Kieselback posted a 2-0 record on the week in the circle, earning two complete-game GNAC wins over Suffolk and Regis. The senior combined for 20 strikeouts including 12 K's against Suffolk in a 5-3 win. On the week Kieselback posted a 2.00 ERA and is now 7-0 since March 31.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Caitlin Murphy, Suffolk (Fr., OF - Abington, Mass.)

Murphy batted .615 (8-of-13) with a .750 on-base percentage and .769 slugging percentage... Registered eight hits (two doubles), drew six walks, drove in three, and scored six runs of her own while swiping nine bases to help the team to a 3-2 week. Murphy was also perfect in the field with seven putouts and two assists in nine total chances.


WEEK 8 HONOR ROLL

Megan Antaya, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Fr., UT - Somerset, Mass.) - Hit .579 with a .636 obp and .989 slugging percentage ... Had a hit in five of six games ... Scored 11 runs and drove in 7 more ... Had two hits and two runs scored in game two versus Regis ... Had 7 hits, six runs and 4 RBI against Anna Maria.

Allie Petillo, Regis (Mass.) (Sr., OF - West Sayville, N.Y.) - Petillo earned at least one hit in every game she played over the past week, finishing 9-for-20 in six games. She has a two-hit game in each of the three doubleheaders, accomplishing that in the first game against Gordon and Emmanuel as well as in the second game against Johnson & Wales. Petillo is now batting .322 for the season, second on the team. Through the games of April 18, Petillo is one of just nine players in all of Division III who has not struck out this season. She has the fourth-most at-bats among the nine players with 90.

Amaria Sharon, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Jr., P/INF - Tolland, Conn.) - Sharon helped lead the University of Saint Joseph to a 4-2 week including a perfect 4-0 GNAC week which featured sweeps over intrastate rival Albertus Magnus on Thursday and Rivier on Friday to remain atop the GNAC South Division standings. Sharon produced both at the plate and inside the circle on the week slashing .400/.478/.500 and going 2-1 with a pair of GNAC wins and a 4.38 ERA. The 5-4 middle infielder/pitcher collected eight hits in 20 at-bats with a pair of doubles, drove in eight RBI, and scored five runs while registering a hit in five of six games on the week without striking out. Across three starts in the circle, she fired a pair of complete games, yielded 10 earned runs in 16.0 innings of work, and racked up 10 strikeouts. In game one versus the Raiders on Friday, Sharon went 2-for-3 with a walk at the plate with a double, three RBI, and three runs scored and picked up the win pitching five complete in a 12-5 USJ triumph.

Marissa Santoro, Simmons (So., 2B/SS - Franklin, Mass.) - In two games, the sophomore reached base seven times in eight plate appearances, going 6-7 to bat .857 to go with a walk for a .875 on-base percentage and a run scored. The second base posted a 1.732 OPS for the week and handled eight chances without an error. Santoro went 2-3 with a run scored and a walk in the first game at Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on April 19 and came back to go 4-4 in the nightcap against the Monks.

Jaclyn Flint, Suffolk (Sr., P/UTL - Medfield, Mass.) - Flint batted .625, collecting 10 hits in 16 at-bats (one double, one homer) and drove in seven to go alongside two walks and four runs scored.
