GNAC Softball Report: Week 2

( FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 4-11 )

PLAYER / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Christie Bott, Simmons (So., C - Seaford, N.Y.)

In four games, the sophomore batted .583 (7-12) with six runs batted in, two doubles, three runs scored and was hit by a pitch twice to contribute to a .643 on-base percentage. She also slugged .750 as part of a 1.393 OPS. In addition, she handled all eight defensive chances without an error and threw out two of three attempted base-stealers. The catcher hit safely and knocked in at least one run in all four games she appeared in and began her collegiate career by going 2-4 with two RBI vs. Hood College on March 7. She followed that up by going 1-3 with two more runs batted in, doubled and scored and threw out a base-runner vs. Illinois College the same day. Bott went 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored vs. #20 College of Saint Benedict on March 8 and reached base all three times, including a double and being hit by a pitch twice vs. Ohio Northern University and also scored and knocked in a run, while throwing out a base-stealer. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Megan Kieselback, Emmanuel (Sr., P - Wetherfield, Conn.)

Allowed just one earned run over 18 innings pitched for Emmanuel, posting a 0.39 ERA for the Saints while striking out 14. 


WEEK 2 HONOR ROLL

Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr., OF - Cambridge, Mass.) Batted .385 with five hits (one double, one triple, one home run) and drove in three while scoring two runs of her own through six games.

Summer Ramundo, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Fr., P/1B - Lincoln Park, N.J.)-  Hit .400 and picked up a victory in two games last week ... Went 1-4 with three RBIs against Keuka ... Also got the win in the circle, striking out eight with one earned run in the seven innings ... Got a pinch-hit single in the second game against Keuka.

Ellery Rasmussen, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., IF - Kingston, N.H.) - Rasmussen was one of the bright spots for the Regis softball team during its Spring Break trip. Rasmussen earned at least one hit in seven of the eight games the Pride played, including five of six games over the past week. She drove in a run last Monday against Alverno. In Regis' 7-6 victory over Rosemont last Wednesday, the team's only win of the trip, Rasmussen went 3-for-4 with a run scored. She also scored a run and drove in a run in the team's final game of the trip against St. Elizabeth as the Pride rallied and came close to extending the contest. Rasmussen was also perfect in the field in 28 chances at first base, including 12 putouts against Rosemont.
