GNAC Softball Report: Week 3

( FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 11-17 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lauren Del Vacchio, Simmons (Jr., 2B/OF - Murrieta, Calif.)

In four games, the junior hit safely in all four contests with multiple hits in three of them. She batted .538 (7-13) with a .600 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging average to give her an OPS of 1.292. The center fielder knocked in four runs, while scoring five times from the leadoff spot in the order, drew a pair of walks and collected two doubles , while striking out just once in 15 plate appearances. The three-year standout began the week by going 2-3 in each game for a 4-6 day in a twinbill vs. host Emerson College on March 15 and added a double, two RBI, two walks and three runs scored in the doubleheader. Del Vacchio capped the week by going 3-7 the following day vs. #23 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and also drove in two runs, while scoring twice and extending her season hitting streak to eight straight games. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Laura Anderson, Albertus Magnus (Jr., P - East Haven, Conn.)

In her two appearances of the week, Anderson hurled two complete games while allowing two runs on six hits and no walks in 10 innings of work at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Anderson struck out seven batters and finished the week with a 0.70 ERA. At the plate, Anderson batted .353 (6-for-17) with four runs and belted her first home run of the season in the win over La Roche. She also finished the week with two doubles, four RBI and a .647 slugging percentage.  

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Shannon McMahon, Simmons (First Year, C - El Cajon, Calif.)

The first year hit safely in three of four games and batted .333 (4-12) to go with a .750 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base average for an 1.179.The rookie knocked in seven runs, tripled, homered, scored two runs and drew a walk. She struck out just once in 14 plate appearances.The catcher was a combined 2-6 with three runs batted in, a walk and a run scored at host Emerson College on March 15. McMahon came back the next day to go 2-6 with a triple and a her first collegiate home run vs. #23 Ren. 


WEEK 3 HONOR ROLL

Victoria Spellman, Lasell (Jr., 1B - Rocky Hill, Conn.) - Batted .412 on Lasell's spring trip to Florida (14 for 34) with four doubles, two triples, five RBI and seven runs scored. She hit safely in eight on Lasell's 10 games, and had five multi-hit games, including two doubles and a single in a game against Marywood.
