GNAC Women's Volleyball Report: Week 7

(FOR THE WEEK OF OCT. 8-14)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Katie Leidhold, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr, OH - Achusnet, Mass.)

Averaged 3.44 kills and 2.67 digs ...Had a season-high 15 kills and 11 digs for her fourth double-double of the year against Coast Guard. Also had two aces and hit .364 vs. the Bears ... Produced nine kills, eight digs and two aces against Roger Williams... Hit .294 with seven kills against Rivier.

LIBERO OF THE WEEK

Elyssa Nicolas, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So, DS - San Francisco, Calif.)

Averaged 5.33 digs per set in a 3-0 week ... Notched 19 digs in the 3-0 win over Rivier. Started the week with 16 dig against Roger Williams and added 13 versus Coast Guard ... Also had a season-high five assists versus Roger Williams.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kiana Perez, Lasell (Fr., OH - Juncos, Puerto Rico)

Averaged 4.25 kills, 4.25 digs and a .069 attack percentage in a 2-0 week for the Lasers, both GNAC victories. She tallied 18 kills and 11 digs in a 3-1 victory at Norwich, and added 16 kills and 23 digs in a 3-1 win over Emmanuel. She also made one service ace and one block in each match.


WEEK 7 HONOR ROLL
Morgan Flynn, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, LB - Reading, Mass.) -Flynn averaged 5.00 digs per set in a 2-0 week for the Chargers. She began the week with a match-high 25 digs in a 3-2 win at Salem State. She finished with a team best 15 digs in a 3-0 win over Saint Joseph's (ME). Flynn added .75 aces per set after recording three in each match.

Mary Shelow, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, OH - Miami, Fla.) - Shelow posted double-digit kill totals in all three matches this week for the Saints, averaging 3.55 kills per set over 11 sets. The senior slammed home a match-high 16 kills vs. Lasell, a match-high 13 kills in a match vs. Simmons and a match-high 10 kills in a match vs. Rivier. She added 21 total digs (1.91 d/s), four aces, four assists and three total blocks for EC.

Olivia Addington, Lasell (Sr., OH/RS - Orange, Calif.) - Averaged 3.38 kills, 5.38 digs and 0.50 blocks with a .134 attack percentage in a 2-0 week for the Lasers, both GNAC victories. She tallied 13 kills, 21 digs and two blocks in a 3-1 victory at Norwich, and added 14 kills, 22 digs and two blocks in a 3-1 win over Emmanuel. She also made one service aces in each match.

Allie Jo Amos, Lasell (So., L/DS - Prescott, Ariz.) - Averaged 5.38 digs in a 2-0 week for the Lasers, both GNAC victories. She tallied 14 digs in a 3-1 victory at Norwich, and added 29 digs in a 3-1 win over Emmanuel. She also made two service aces at Norwich and one ace vs. Emmanuel.

Katryna Veasey, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., OH - Quincy, Mass.) - Veasey led Regis to a conference victory at Albertus Magnus Saturday with her ninth double-double of the season, averaging 3.67 kills and 2.56 digs per set in a 1-2 week. For the season, Veasey is tied for second in the GNAC in total kills (245) and fifth in kills per set (3.14), plus she leads the Pride with 34 service aces and is second on the team with 236 digs. 

Taylor Dunster, Rivier (Jr, OH - Sutton, Mass.) - Dunster once again was solid for the Raiders registering 3.17 kills/set and 3.50 digs/set helping Rivier to a 1-1 week in GNAC play. The junior outside hitter recorded a double double of 11 kills and 12 digs in a 3-0 loss against JWU to highlight her week. 

Reilly Coombs, Simmons (First Year, OH - Deland, Fla.) - In four matches and 13 sets, the first year put down at least eight kills in all four matches and averaged 3.08 kills per set on a .231 hitting percentage, while adding 2.77 digs per set and 12 aces to average 0.92 aces per set to contribute to 4.04 points per set. 

Julia Fusco, Simmons (Sophomore, L - Beverly, Mass.) - In 13 sets over four matches, the sophomore averaged 4.31 digs per set to go with three total aces and 1.15 assists per set, while owning a .907 serve reception success rate after making just five miscues on 54 serves. 

Talia Lombardo, Suffolk (Sr., S - Windham, N.H.) - The senior setter averaged 10.00 assists per set in a 3-0 week, including sweeps against USJ, Anna Maria and Curry. 

Dakhensey Marcellus, Suffolk (So., L - Brockton, Mass.) - Marcellus averaged 4.11 digs per set in the Rams' 3-0 week.
