GNAC Women's Volleyball Report: Week 5

(FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 24-30)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Taylor Dunster, Rivier (Jr, OH - Sutton, Mass.)

Dunster double-doubled in all three games she played as the Raiders went 4-0 last week, averaging 3.50 kills, 2.91 digs, 0.64 aces and 0.45 blocks per set while hitting .240. The outside hitter started her week with 14 kills, 12 digs and three blocks in a four-set GNAC win over Suffolk, then had 10 kills and 10 digs in a sweep over UNE before registering 14 kills and 10 scoops in a 3-1 win at Gordon.

LIBERO OF THE WEEK

Allie Jo Amos, Lasell (So., L/DS - Prescott, Ariz.)

The sophomore averaged 5.30 digs and 0.50 service aces per set as Lasell won a pair of GNAC matches in five sets. She posted 27 digs Wednesday in Lasell's 3-2 win at Regis before tallying 26 digs and four service aces Saturday in the Lasers' 3-2 victory at USJ.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kiana Perez, Lasell (Fr., OH - Juncos, Puerto Rico)

The three-time reigning GNAC Rookie of the Week averaged 4.10 kills, 3.00 digs and 0.40 service aces per set with a .130 attack percentage as Lasell won a pair of five-set GNAC matches last week. She posted 24 kills and 12 digs Wednesday in Lasell's 3-2 win at Regis, and tallied 17 kills, 18 digs and three service aces Saturday in Lasell's 3-2 victory at USJ.

 


WEEK 5 HONOR ROLL
Marissa Cataldo, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr, OH - Melrose, Mass.) - Cataldo powered the Saints to a three-win week including a 2-0 mark in GNAC play, averaging 3.42 kills and 2.92 digs per set. 

Carly Church, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, S - Higganum, Conn.) - Church ran an efficient offense all week for Emmanuel, lifting the Saints to three wins including a 2-0 mark in GNAC play. The senior setter averaged a whopping 9.42 assists per set over 12 frames, passing out a total of 113 helpers. 

Katharine Journeay, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, OH - Hampton, N.H.) - Journeay averaged 5.00 digs per set in a 3-1 week for Emmanuel including a pair of GNAC victories. The senior collected a match-high 20 digs in a 3-0 conference win over Saint Joseph's before closing out the week with a 15 dig outing in a 3-0 sweep vs. Husson.

Morgan Flynn, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, LB - Reading, Mass.) - Flynn helped the Chargers to a 4-0 week by averaging 4.83 digs per set. She began the week with a season0 and match-best 30 digs in a 3-1 win over Southern Vermont and had 22 digs in a 3-1 GNAC win at Suffolk. The junior added 0.92 aces per set. 

Katie Leidhold, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr, OH - Acushnet, Mass.) - Throughout a 3-0 week, Leidhold averaged 3.14 kills, 2.14 digs and 0.86 aces per set with a .439 hitting percentage in GNAC road sweeps of Albertus, Simmons and Regis. She had a match-high 10 kills with a .438 hitting percentage against Simmons on Saturday in a rematch of last year's GNAC Championship. 

Kelsey Bickford, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Junior, OH - Somersworth, N.H.) - Bickford averaged 3.14 kills in a 2-2 week and tallied 16 kills in a 3-1 victory over Husson on Saturday.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Founded in 1995, the GNAC annually sponsors and administers 20 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunity and community involvement in an effort to enhance the student-athlete experience.
