GNAC Women's Volleyball Report: Week 4

(FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 17-23)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kate Walker, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr, MB - Oakland, Calif.)

The 2017 AVCA Division III East Region Player of the Year averaged 3.27 kills and 1.00 blocks while hitting .349 in a 4-0 week for the No. 4 nationally-ranked Wildcats, who defeated MIT last Tuesday before winning nine of 11 sets at the JWU Invitational... Started the week with 11 kills and three blocks at #22 MIT ... Notched 14 kills and three blocks with a .419 hitting percentage against Tuft...Wrapped up the JWU Invitational with a career-highs of 18 kills and eight blocks versus previously unbeaten Bowdoin. 

LIBERO OF THE WEEK

Elyssa Nicolas, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So, DS - San Francisco, Calif.)

Notched 4.80 digs per set in a 4-0 week... Had 14 digs in a win at #22 MIT... Produced 17 digs in just three sets versus Scranton ... Went for a match-high 21 digs against Tufts then came back for 20 more versus Bowdoin. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kiana Perez, Lasell (Fr., OH - Juncos, Puerto Rico)

Averaged 5.50 kills per set with a .221 attack percentage and 3.33 digs per set in Lasell's 2-2 week. She averaged 4.86 kills per set (.179) and 3.43 digs per set in Lasell's two GNAC matches, losses to Rivier and Colby-Sawyer. She posted a double-double in a win over Newbury with a career-high 31 kills and 16 digs, and had another double-double against Colby-Sawyer with 23 kills and 17 digs. 


WEEK 4 HONOR ROLL
Genesis Cora Luquis, Albertus Magnus (So., RS/LS - Meriden, Conn.) - Cora Luquis averaged 2.73 kills (.139) and 3.09 digs per set to help the Falcons to a 2-1 week. 

Katharine Journeay, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, OH - Hampton, NH) - Journeay averaged 4.82 digs per set over three matches for Emmanuel including a career-high 31 dig effort in a 3-1 victory over Fisher College on Thursday evening. 

Kathryn Farnum, Norwich (So., RS - North Andover, Mass.) - Farnum averaged 2.89 kills (.246) and 2.33 digs per set in a 2-1 week, including a season-high 14 kills in a win at NEC. 

Katryna Veasey, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., OH - Quincy, Mass.) - Veasey led Regis to a 3-0 week that extended the Pride's winning streak to five, averaging 3.91 kills, 2.91 digs, and 0.67 service aces per set while hitting .270. She led the Pride to a 3-2 victory at SJC Saturday with her fifth double-double of the season, earning a season-high 19 kills, just one off her career high total, with 17 digs.

Taylor Dunster, Rivier (Jr, OH - Sutton, Mass.) - Dunster was all over the stat sheet in leading the Raiders to a 3-0 GNAC week, averaging 3.67 kills (.338) and 3.44 digs per set. She also chipped in with 0.67 aces and 0.44 blocks per set, and recorded a double-double in a 3-0 sweep over Colby-Sawyer with 11 kills and 20 digs. 

Sydney Racevicius, Rivier (Fr, OH - Woodbury, Conn.) - Racevicius helped Rivier to a 3-0 GNAC week by averaging 3.00 kills ajd 3.56 digs per set while hitting .192.

Jennelle Thompson, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Senior, LB - Rochester, N.H.) - In a 1-2 week, Thompson averaged 5.64 digs in a 1-2 week for the Monks and tallied 40 digs in a five-set loss to Regis on Saturday.

Faith Gray-Williams, Simmons (So, S/OH - Las Vegas, Nev.) - The sophomore posted a pair of double-doubles and averaged 2.00 kills, 3.00 assists, 1.89 digs, 0.44 blocks and 0.33 aces in nine sets over two matches, while owning a .149 hitting percentage.
