GNAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 10

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Pedro Campos, Rivier (Jr, S - Downey, Calif.)

Campos averaged 12.40 assists/set in a 3-0 week for the Raiders. The junior setter led Rivier to a team .310 hitting percentage in the sets he played in. Campos also chipped in with 2.20 digs and 0.60 blocks per set. He highlighted his week with a 48-assist performance in a 3-1 win over Johnson & Wales. 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Peter Klembczyk, Wentworth (So., L - Penfield, N.Y.)

Klembczyk backstopped the Leopards to a 3-1 week, all three wins coming against league opponents, as the sophomore averaged 4.40 digs per set for 66 total. He registered at least 10 digs in three of four matches played, and steered the Leopards to a four-set win over Emmanuel with 31 digs, which shattered the single-match digs record at Wentworth set in 2012.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sokunbuth Ly, Rivier (Fr, S/OH - Lowell, Mass.)

Ly helped Rivier to a 3-0 week in the GNAC averaging 3.67 kills/set, 1.33 aces/set, .83 digs/set and .67 blocks/set. The first year player hit for an impressive .700 percentage on the week while averaging 5.4 points/set. Ly highlighted his week with a 12-kill, three-block performance in a 3-0 win over Regis. 


WEEK 10 HONOR ROLL
Orlando Plagata, Colby-Sawyer (Fr, OH - Los Angeles, Calif.) - In a 3-2 week for the Chargers, the first-year player averaged 3.07 kills per set, 2.71 digs per set and .57 aces per set. Taking over the setting role for a match against nationally ranked Rivier, Plagata tallied nine assists, three kills and a pair of digs in a 3-0 loss to the Raiders. He followed with back-to-back double-double performances in a loss at Emerson and a win over Newbury. He had 13 kills, 11 digs and four aces in a tough defeat to Emerson and then had 13 kills and 15 digs in a 3-0 victory over the Nighthawks. Playing just one set in a 3-0 win over Lesley, Plagata posted four kills on eight attempts. To finish the week, he tallied 10 kills on .438 hitting to go with 10 digs and three assists in a 3-0 win over Pine Manor. 

Mark Piorkowski, Emerson (Senior, OH/RS - Montclair, N.J.) - Mark Piorkowski helped the Lions on both ends of the court over the past week. in for matches, Piorkowski totaled 43 kills, with a week high 15 against Wentworth. Piorkowski totaled 13 against a win over Colby-Sawyer on Thursday. Piorkowski also had 34 digs, averaging 2.62 per set while assisting one one kill. Piorkowski hd three total blocks and had a total of 48.5 points on the week. 

Erik English, Emmanuel (Mass. (Sr, OH - Simi Valley, Calif.) - English averaged 4.20 kills per set (.209 percentage) over 10 sets for Emmanuel in GNAC action. The senior opened the week with 16 kills against JWU before posting 15 kills against Wentworth and 11 kills vs. Emerson. English added 2.20 digs per set while also posting eight total blocks, three service aces and two assists.

Jack Pincince, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Fr., OH - South Kingstown, RI) - Averaged 3.08 kills per set and hit .211 in a 3-1 week ... Produced 12 kills, three blocks and .385 hitting percentage against Emmanuel and 14 more versus Rivier ... Started the week with 8 kills against Emerson.

Ryan Love, Wentworth (Jr., OH/RS - Gaithersburg, Md.) - Love averaged 3.42 kills per set in a 3-1 week for the Leopards, totaling 41 kills overall while hitting .290. In two of the final three matches, love put down double-digit kills with 10 in a 3-0 win over Lasell and a career-high 23 in the Leopards' 3-1 win over Emmanuel. Against the Saints, Love registered a double-double with 10 additional digs, and recorded 22 digs overall.
