GNAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 4

( FOR THE WEEK OF FEB. 11-17 )

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Pedro Campos, Rivier (Jr, S - Downey, Calif.)

Campos spearheaded the Rivier offense to another great week helping the Radiers to three more wins and extending their win streak to six. Rivier hit for a .411 percentage with the junior setter directed the offense, averaging 11.00 assists per set, which included a 35-assist performance in a 3-0 sweep over John Jay. The Downey, Calif. native also averaged 1.20 digs and 1.00 blocks per set in the 3-0 week. 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jordan Aprea, Lasell (Sr., OH/DS - Newington, Conn.)

The senior recorded a career-high 31 digs (7.75 per set) in Lasell's only match last week, leading the Lasers to a 3-1 GNAC victory over Emerson.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jack Normandin, Rivier (Fr, OH - Clifton Park, N.Y.)

Normindan took advantage of his first starts of his career and came through in a big way, averaging 3.13 kills per set with a .400 hitting percentage to help lead Rivier to a 3-0 week in non-conference play. The first-year also chipped in with 1.25 digs and 0.50 service aces per set for the Blue & White. 


WEEK 4 HONOR ROLL

Cameron Ponce, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., S - San Jose, Calif.) - Ponce averaged 1.43 kills, 5.71 assists, 1.29 digs and 0.71 blocks ... Produced a team-high 8 kills with five digs and 3 blocks against #10 Endicott ... Came back to hand out 31 assists with 4 digs and 2 blocks in the win over Nazareth. It was the first time JWU ever beat Nazareth in 12 tries.

Janci Soto, Lasell (Jr., MB - Lawrence, Mass.) - Recorded 11 kills (2.75 per set) with a .318 attack percentage (11-4-22) in Lasell's only match last week, a 3-1 GNAC victory over Emerson. He also contributed four blocks and two digs in the win.

Cam Roth, Rivier (Jr, OH - Coventry, R.I.) - Roth, who started the season as a go to hitter for Rivier, made the jump to the libero position and it paid immediate dividends as he helped the Raiders to a 3-0 week with sweeps over Nichols, John Jay, and Eastern Nazarene. The junior from Coventry scooped 24 digs in just 5 sets played for a 4.80 digs/set average on the week.
