GNAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 2

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ryan Love, Wentworth (Jr., OH/RS - Gaithersburg, Md.)

Love averaged 3.25 kills per set while hitting .295 in a 3-0 week for Wentworth. Love was an influential piece to the Leopards' untouched week, booking a career-high 18 kills in five-set victories against both Lasell and No. 15 Arcadia. Love smashed 39 kills overall, hitting .341 against Arcadia, while also averaging 1.75 digs and 0.25 aces per set for the week. 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Peter Klembczyk, Wentworth (So., L - Penfield, N.Y.)

The reigning GNAC Rookie of the Year averaged 3.08 digs per set (40 overall) in an unblemished 3-0 week for the Leopards. After three digs in a sweep of Colby-Sawyer, Klembczyk recorded 20 and 17 digs, respectively, in 3-2 victories over GNAC rival Lasell and No. 15 Arcadia.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Ian Carlson, Wentworth (Fr., - Parker, Colo.)

Carlson broke out of his shell in this week's 3-0 showing from Wentworth, averaging 2.30 kills, 0.50 service aces and 0.60 blocks per set while hitting a blistering .500. Carlson was a crucial factor in the Leopards' 3-2 win over GNAC rival Lasell, smashing 14 kills on a .400 percentage. He started the week with eight kills to lead Wentworth to a 1-0 start in conference play against Colby-Sawyer, and also swung into four service aces versus the Chargers. 


WEEK 2 HONOR ROLL
Erik English, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, OH - Simi Valley, Calif.) - English averaged 4.20 kills, 0.80 aces and 2.00 digs per set in a 2-1 week, hitting .206 overall. He had 13, 13 and 16 kills against Nichols, Newbury and Nichols again, respectively. 

Matt Ferrara, Regis (Mass.) (Fr., OH - Haverhill, Mass.) - Ferrara averaged 2.71 kills and 1.00 digs per set while hitting .131 in a two-game week, which included a 3-0 setback to No. 1 nationally-ranked Springfield. In a 3-1 loss to Nichols, he registered 15 kills and hit an impressive .314.
