GNAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 13

( FOR THE WEEK OF FEB. 4-10 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brian Hogan-Gary, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr., G - Staten Island, N.Y.)

Hogan-Gary recorded his fourth straight double-double in the Wildcats' lone game of the week as JWU cruised to a 71-46 victory over Anna Maria. BHG posted game-highs of 28 points and 15 rebounds against the AMCATS, shooting an impressive 13-of-19 (68.4%) from the floor while adding five steals and two assists. Five of his 15 caroms came on the offensive glass. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Chris Childs, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., G - Bronx, N.Y.)

In USJ's only game of the week last Tuesday – a narrow 88-84 loss to Albertus Magnus – Childs scored 24 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc and 7-of-8 from the FT line. He also added five rebounds, two assists and two steals for his second straight and third overall GNAC Rookie of the Week honor.

WEEK 13 HONOR ROLL
Damian Grant, Albertus Magnus (Jr., F - Waterbury, Conn.) - In a 2-0 week for the Falcons, Grant averaged 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 52% (13-25 FG) from the floor. The junior registered his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds in a big 88-84 road win over USJ before posting a 16-point, five-rebound performance in a 98-93 road victory against Lasell. 

Bobby Perette, Anna Maria (Jr., G - Marshfield, Mass.) - Perette averaged 19.0 points on 46.7% shooting (14-30 FG), including 6-of-13 from three-point range, in a 1-1 week for the AMCATS. He was 9-of-12 and 4-of-5 from three for 24 points in an 80-66 win over Regis last Tuesday. 

Patrick Coffey, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, G - Westford, Mass.) - Coffey led the Chargers with 23.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in a 1-1 week while shooting 52/50/90% overall. He poured in a team-best 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting to lead the team to an impressive 96-94 win over Saint Joseph's of Maine before registering a team-high 22 points in a tough 84-81 loss to Emmanuel. 

Emmett Riddick, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr, G - Middletown, Conn.) - Riddick averaged 21.0 points and 6.0 rebounds while posting 49/50/70% shooting numbers in a 1-1 week for the Saints. He posted a game-high 27 points in a road setback against city rival Suffolk before scoring 15 in an important 84-81 GNAC road win over Colby-Sawyer. 

Joe Tamburro, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, G - South Windsor, Conn.) - Tamburro averaged 27.0 and 5.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week, while shooting 50/43/100% overall. He poured in a career-high 37 points (11-20 FG, 6-12 3PT, 9-9 FT) without turning it over in an 84-81 GNAC road win over Colby-Sawyer. Earlier in the week, he had 17 points in a loss to Suffolk. 

Stefan Masciarelli, Lasell (Jr., G - Northbridge, Mass.) - The junior averaged 26.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists in a 1-2 week for the Lasers, shooting 46.6% (27-58 FG) overall and a perfect 20-of-20 from the FT line. He tallied 21 points (9-15 FG) and 11 assists in a GNAC win over Norwich, had 31 points (11-28 FG, 6-6 FT) and nine assists in a non-conference loss to Tufts, and finished the week with 28 points (7-15 FG, 14-14 FT), six assists and five rebounds in a GNAC home loss to Albertus Magnus.

Darian Berry, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Senior, Guard - Rochester, N.H.) - Berry averaged 28.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Monks, while shooting 61.3% (19-31 FG) overall, including a blistering 10-of-16 from three-point range to go with 9-of-10 from the FT line. In a 96-94 loss at Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday, Berry scored 27 points (9-13 FG, 3-6 3PT, 6-6 FT) with seven rebounds. In a 97-78 victory over Norwich on Saturday, he notched a double-double with 30 points (19-18 FG, 7-10 3PT, 3-4 FT) and 10 boards.

Thomas Duffy, Suffolk (Jr., G - Fairfield, Conn.) - In a 2-0 week that included a key 90-81 victory over Emmanuel in a game that had GNAC first-place implications, Duffy averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists while turning it over just once. Against EC, he was 8-of-14 overall for 19 points, four boards and seven assists (no turnovers), before registering 16 points, seven boards, and four helpers in an 86-77 victory at Rivier. He shot 52/25/90% in the two wins.
