GNAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week Report #14

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Madi Zancan, Regis (Jr., F)

Junior forward Madi Zancan collected two double-doubles in both Regis contests this past week, averaging 24.5 points per game (57.1% from the floor) and 11 rebounds per game with four assists and 1.5 blocks per game. The Cumberland, R.I. native started her week strong with 26 points and 12 rebounds with six assists in a home victory over Colby-Sawyer. Zancan followed up on the road with a 23 point, 10 rebound double-double in a setback to Johnson & Wales. She also put up two steals and blocks apiece on the defensive side of the ball. Zancan's effort helped the Pride earn a play-in berth to the 2025 GNAC Women's Basketball Tournament where they will play at Emmanuel tonight at 6pm.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Isabella Suero, Johnson & Wales (Fr., G)

First-Year guard Isabella Suero capped off her stellar freshman campaign strong as the Newburg, N.Y. native averaged 25 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats. Suero scored 11 points, grabbed three rebounds, collected four assists, and two steals in a road victory over Dean before following up on JWU's Senior Day with a career-high 39 points, 24 of them coming from downtown (8-for-17), and leading the Wildcats to clinch the top seed in this week's Women's Basketball tournament, awaiting play-in winners for a Tuesday matchup at 6pm.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Sharayah Scott-Cummins, Anna Maria - Averaged 18.5 points a game on 58/44/100 shooting splits for the Amcats in 21 minutes off the bench to guide them to two wins. Had 14 points (6-for-8), three assists, and two steals on the road versus Elms before closing out Regular Season play with a career-high 23 points, going a perfect 11-for-11 from the charity stripe, to lead Anna Maria to a regular season finale victory at Emmanuel.

Desiree Robinson, Emmanuel - Scored 20 points a game on 65% shooting from the floor along with 4.5 rebounds and two blocks in a 1-1 week for Emmanuel. Put up 19 points (6-for-9), six boards, and two blocks in a win at New England College and followed with 21 points (7-for-11), three rebounds, and two blocks vs Anna Maria at home.

Haley Brewster, Norwich - Opened up the week with 11 points on a 55.6% mark and two steals at Saint Joseph's (Maine) and followed that up by going 9-for-12 from long range and 13-for-18 from the floor to rack up 35 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals in a Senior Day victory over Mitchell. Her nine-made three-pointers from beyond the arc set the Norwich program record for most three-pointers in a game, while her 75% mark set the record for highest three-point shooting percentage in a single game.

Jordan Ouellette, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Had a stellar week offensively to lead the Blue Jays to a perfect 2-0 record, averaging 23.5 points on 58.3% shooting, and hauling in 3.5 rebounds per game. Ouellette began the week by scoring 16 points and hauling in five rebounds during a road win at Lasell. Rounded out the regular season by scoring 31 points off a 73.7% clip from the field in a road win at Colby-Sawyer.
