GNAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week Report #7

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Caitlyn Scott, Albertus Magnus (Sr., G)

Senior Guard Caitlyn Scott was the offensive spark for the Falcons, leading them to a 2-0 record. The White Plains, N.Y. native started her 2025 off with a bang as the senior exploded for 37 points in a non-conference win over Manhattanville on Jan. 2 while snagging down six boards and collecting two steals. Scott followed up with a 22 point outing with six boards in the Falcons' GNAC opening victory over Colby-Sawyer on Jan. 4. She averaged 29.5 points a game on 45.7% shooting, 40% from downtown, and 75% from the charity stripe to go with six boards and 1.5 steals a game. Scott is third in the GNAC in points per game (23.3) and second in total points (279), both of which place her top-10 in the nation currently. The senior also leads both the GNAC and DIII in free throws made with 89.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Grace Jaffray, Johnson & Wales (Fr., F)

First-year Forward Grace Jaffray put up nearly a double-double average of 24 points a game with nine rebounds, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 record on the week. She closed out 2024 on New Year's Eve with a 25-point, seven-rebound, six-assist effort against Curry before dropping a 23 point, 11 rebound double-double against Elms in the GNAC opener this past weekend on Jan. 4. Jaffray sits second in the GNAC and fifth in the nation in scoring average at 24.9 ppg. She's currently third in the conference and eighth in DIII in total points as well (274).


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Marinique Reddin, Anna Maria - Averaged 17.7 points a game on 50% from the floor and 85.7% from the charity stripe with six boards, 4.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game across three contests for the Amcats. Put up 19 points and five boards in 23 minutes against No. 8 nationally ranked Wis.-Whitewater and followed up with 18 points, nine boards, two steals, and five blocks against Mount Union. Led Anna Maria to GNAC-opening victory over NEC with 16 points, seven assists, four boards, three steals and two blocks.

Kaitlyn Bartash, Emmanuel - Averaged a 12 point, 13 rebound double-double along with 5.5 assists and two blocks in two victories for the Saints to close out 2024. She put up 18 point, 16 rebound double-double with six assists over Pomona Pitzer and followed up with six points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks in 20 minutes over La Verne.

Brianne Foley, Johnson & Wales - Averaged a double-double with 16.5 ppg and 11.5 rpg as the Wildcats went 2-0 last week. She collected 19 points and a career-high 15 boards in a New Year's Eve win over Curry at home before going for 14 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks in a win over Elms. 

Lyric Grumblatt, Rivier - Averaged 34.0 points a game at the Pearson Memorial Tournament against WPI and Babson along with 5.5 rebounds. Scored 32 points and collected four rebounds against WPI and followed up with 36 points over Babson with six boards. Her 68 points over the two games marked the most in the tournament's history while her 36-point performance against the host Beavers was the most in a single-game in tournament history.

Angelica Hurley, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Averaged 22 points per game, shot 65.4% from inside the arc and 72.7% from outside, was 100% on free throws, and averaged five rebounds per game at the Framingham State Invitational. Scored 26 points on 10-for-15, including 6-for-8 from three, and snagged five boards in a win over Salve Regina and followed up with 18 points on 7-for-11 shooting with five rebounds in victory over Framingham State.

Jordan Ouellete, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Averaged 17.6 points on 64.2% shooting and 4.8 rebounds as the Blue Jays posted a 3-2 record over the holiday break. Started the weeks off by posting 14 points and six rebounds in a victory against Receviving Votes (RV) Bridgewater (Va.) during the Puerto Rico Classico. She dropped 27 points against Trinity (Conn.) before tallying 20 points and eight rebounds in a win against Lehman, earning All-Tournament honors at the Coaches v. Cancer Classic. Rounded out the holiday season by posting 19 points and five rebounds on the road at Russell Sage College.
