GNAC Field Hockey Report: Week 7

( FOR THE WEEK OF OCT. 7 - OCT. 13 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

McKayla Weaver, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., F/M - Enfield, Conn.)
 
Weaver guided Johnson & Wales to a 2-0 week, which included a 4-3 overtime road win against GNAC foe Simmons . Early in the week in a 7-0 win over non-conference Dean, the Connecticut native scored the game-winner in the first two minutes of the contest then connected with Jillian Miele for an assist in the 39th minute. Late in the week trailing 2-0 against Simmons, Weaver scored the equalizer in the 15th minute as the Wilcats came back to defeat the Sharks, 4-3.
 

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Sofia Rodriguez, Lasell (So., G - Peabody, Mass.)

Rodriguez posted a 2-0 record with a 0.97 goals against average and a .778 save percentage with seven saves. She made three saves in a 3-2 non-conference overtime victory over Clark University on Tuesday, and she turned away for shots for her first career shutout on Saturday in a 1-0 GNAC triumph over Regis College.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kensie Lennon, Lasell (Fr., D - Jamestown, R.I.)

Lennon scored one game-winning goal in a 2-0 week for the Lasers. She scored the overtime game-winner in a 3-2 non-conference overtime victory over Clark University on Tuesday.


WEEK 7 HONOR ROLL

Maddie Beckwith, Simmons (FY., M/F - Winslow, Maine) - In two matches, the first year tallied a point with an assist. The midfielder assisted on a goal vs. Johnson & Wales University on October 12th.

Jillian Miele, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., F - Wilmington, Mass.) - Miele helped guide Johnson & Wales to a 2-0 week, following a 7-0 win over non-conference Dean and a 4-3 overtime victory over GNAC foe Simmons University. Midway through the week against the Bulldogs, Miele registered her first career hat-trick, scoring four goals for eight points in the Wildcats second shutout of the year.

Rebecca Duke, Lasell (Jr., F - Ijamsville, MD.) - Duke scored two goals in a 2-0 week for the Lasers, with one game-winner. She scored Lasell's first goal in a 3-2 non-conference overtime victory over Clark University on Tuesday, and she tallied the game-winning goal in the third period on Saturday in a 1-0 GNAC triumph over Regis College.
