GNAC Field Hockey Report: Week 3

(FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 9 - SEPT. 15)

PLAYER / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sheridan Blaha, Regis (Mass.) (Fr., F - Waltham, Mass.)

Blaha has emerged as one of the offensive leaders for Regis in her first collegiate season. Last week, she had a four-goal week and is now second in the GNAC with five goals and 10 total points. In Wednesday's victory over Framingham State, she scored four straight goals, three in a span of 5:16 in the second quarter and one more in the third quarter. She took eight shots total against the Rams, six of them on goal. Saturday against Saint Joseph's College, Blaha took three shots, all of them on goal to challenge the Monk defense. 

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Lucy McNamara, Simmons (Junior, GK - Brewster, Mass.)

In two matches, the junior posted a .750 save percentage with 15 saves, while owning a 2.50 goals against average in 60 minutes. The keeper finished two stops shy of her career best with 14 saves at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in a 5-1 loss on September 10. McNamara capped the week with her sixth career shutout with a save in a 3-0 win over GNAC foe Anna Maria College on September 14 to open the league slate.


WEEK 3 HONOR ROLL

Bella Silva, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., C - Danvers, Mass.) - Silva scored her first collegiate goal and added another, which included the game-winner, in Saturday's GNAC opening victory at Rivier.

Kensie Lennon, Lasell (Fr., D - Jamestown, R.I.) - Recorded a goal and an assist in a 9-0 GNAC victory at Albertus Magnus. She assisted on Lasell's second goal and scored the third goal, both in the first quarter.

Jilian Miele, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., F - Wilmington, Mass.) - Sophomore forward Jilliam Miele helped Johnson & Wales to a 1-1 week, which included a 3-0 shut-out against non-conference Westfield State early in the week for the Wildcats first win of the season. Against the Owls, the Middlesex County native scored the game-winner in the 19th minute then sealed the victory with her second goal of the game (sixth of the season) in the fourth quarter.

Olivia Trull, Simmons (Senior, F - Lowell, Mass.) - In two matches, the senior tallied two goals for four points. The forward matched her career best with a pair of goals vs. Anna Maria College in the GNAC opener on September 14th.
