GNAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week Report #9

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Marcus Lewis, Lasell (Sr., G)

Senior Guard Marcus Lewis kept the Lasers’ undefeated in GNAC play as he went on a scoring tear this past week. Lewis only missed five shots (11-for-16) putting up 24 points on the road against Emmanuel while also collecting 10 rebounds to collect his fifth double-double of the season. The senior followed up with a season-high 33 points on 64% (16-for-25) from the floor, collecting six boards, two steals, and a block on the road at New England College. He averaged 28.5 points a game on 65.9% from the floor with eight rebounds on the week and currently is third in the GNAC in total field goals made with 118.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Adelphe Cisse, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., F)

First-Year Forward Adelphe Cisse led the way for the Blue Jays this past week and kept them undefeated in GNAC play, averaging 21.5 points, seven rebounds, and one block a game. Cisse began the week with 15 points, eight rebounds, and three assists in a road victory at Anna Maria and followed up with a career-high 28 points, six rebounds, and a block/steal.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Ta'zhon Daniels, Albertus Magnus - Averaged 24 points a game in 28 minutes of action along with 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals for the Falcons. Put up 14 points, five assists, and two steals in 21 minutes in victory over Mitchell and followed up with career-high 34 points, including six threes, and four assists in setback to Saint Joseph's (Maine).

Billy Ray Barnes III, Dean - Averaged 23 points a game on 64.3% with eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals a game in a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs. Started the week off with 19 points (57.1%), eight rebounds, six assists, and two steals against NEC and finished with 27 points on 71.4% while hauling down eight boards, six assists, and two blocks/steals over Colby-Sawyer.

Esmer Madesko, Lasell - Put up averages of 17 points on 57.1%, seven assists, 4.5 rebounds, and three steals in a 2-0 week. Collected a career-high 28 points on 65% with five rebounds, six assists, and four steals in a road victory over Emmanuel and followed up with six points, eight rebounds, four rebounds, and two steals in blowout victory over NEC.

Jaylyn Clardy, Mitchell - Averaged 22.5 points and 7.5 rebounds a game in a 1-1 week for the Mariners. Finished shy of a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds in setback to Albertus Magnus and followed up with 19 points, six boards, and four assists in win over Regis.

Owen Liss, Norwich - Averaged 21.5 points a game and 15.5 rebounds a game in a 1-1 week for the Cadets. Put up a monstrous double-double (30 points, 23 rebounds) in a road victory over Rivier and collected 13 points and eight rebounds in a setback to Emmanuel.

Russell Rau, Regis - Put up 34 points and seven rebounds in road setback to Mitchell.

Silvano Ismail, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Averaged 16.5 points on 75% with six rebounds, five assists, two steals, and 1.5 blocks a game in a 2-0 week. Collected 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting, six boards, six assists, two steals, and three blocks in 28 minutes of action against JWU and followed up with 17 points (6-for-7), six boards, four assists, and two steals in a road victory over Albertus Magnus. 

John Paul Frazier, Saint Joseph's (Maine)- Averaged 21.5 points a game on 57/53/100 shooting splits with five rebounds. Posted 14 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes in win over JWU and followed with 29 points in road victory over Albertus Magnus.
