PLAYER OF THE WEEK Owen Liss, Norwich (Sr., F) Senior Owen Liss earns his first player of the week award as he led the Cadets to a 2-0 week. The senior started his week with a 32 point, seven board and two steal performance over VTSU Randolph, going 11-15 from the floor and a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe. He followed that up with another 32 points against Elmira on the opening day of the Hockenbury Classic, recording his 1,000th career point. He put up an all-around performance on top of his 32 points, racking up nine boards, five assists, five blocks, and two steals. On the week, he averaged 32 points on a 69.4% shooting percentage, 40.0% from long range, and 92.3% from the free-throw line alongside 8.0 boards, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 3.5 blocks. Liss currently leads the GNAC in points per game (24.8), which is good for 10th in DIII as well, and total blocks (16)/blocks per game (2.7). |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Jakari Tertulien, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., G) First-Year Guard Jakari Tertulien earns his first rookie of the week award honor after stepping up in a conference opening rematch of last year’s GNAC Conference Championship game against Saint Joseph’s (Maine) in which USJ defeated the Monks, 94-76. The first-year collected a career-high 24 points on 61.5% shooting off the bench while collecting five boards and six steals for the Blue Jays. |
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Eddie Volkerts, Mitchell - Averaged a double-double with 20.5 points ans 10.5 rebounds a game, leading the Mariners to a 2-0 week. Had 23 points, eight boards over Purchase College and followed up with an 18 point, 13 rebound double-double in victory over Dean.
Nick Gomeau, New England College - Scored 23 points and collected five boards in a setback to No. 21 Middlebury. Followed up with 21 points and five boards in win over MCLA, giving Gomeau averages of 23 points (50% from floor and 87.5% from free throw) and five rebounds.
Jalen Olivero, Norwich - Averaged 19 points on 58.3%/58.3%/100% shooting splits with 6.5 rebounds and six assists with 1.5 steals in a 2-0 week. Had 17 points, eight boards, five assists over VTSU Randolph. Followed up with 21 points, including his 1,000th career point, five boards, seven assists, and three steals over Elmira College.
Joey Merrill, Rivier - Put up averages of 16.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. Put up 16 points, eight boards, and five assists/steals apiece in setback to Fisher. Recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards in loss to Salem State. Finished the week off with a 17 point, 12 rebound, and 10 assist triple-double in win over Framingham State.
Tahmeen Dupree, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Scored 21 points, going 7-for-11 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from downtown in victory over Saint Joseph's (Maine). Was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards.
