GNAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 10

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Serena Speight, Lasell (So., F - Biddeford, Maine)

Speight tallied two goals in the Lasers' GNAC Tournament Quarterfinal road victory at Suffolk, as her first goal put fifth-seeded Lasell up 2-1 early in the second half and her second goal was the overtime game-winner. Next up, the Lasers travel to top-seeded JWU on Tuesday (7:00 PM) in the GNAC semis. 

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Adia Grogan, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Sophomore, GK - Kennebunk, Maine)

Grogan made 19 saves with a 1.86 GAA and a .833 save percentage in two games last week. She steered away 11 shots in a 2-1 loss at Lasell on Wednesday and made eight stops – along with several acrobatic PK saves – in a PK win over USJ on Saturday to help the Monks advance to the semifinals. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Alexis Vieira, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Fy., M - Warwick, R.I.)

Vieira guided Johnson & Wales to a 2-0 week, which included a 5-0 win over Regis in the GNAC quarterfinal match-up on Saturday afternoon. Early in the week, Viera closed out the regular season and helped the Wildcats secure the No. 1 seed by scoring four goals for eight points in a 10-1 victory over Anna Maria. Against the Pride in the GNAC quarterfinals, Viera scored in the 13th minute and also had two assists. Overall, she totaled five goals and the two helpers for 12 points. 


WEEK 10 HONOR ROLL

Megan McMillen, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Fr, M - Branford, Conn.) - McMillen powered Emmanuel into the GNAC Semifinals scoring her first collegiate hat-trick in the Saints 5-2 win over Albertus Magnus College in the 2019 GNAC Quarterfinals. It was the first multi-goal outing of her collegiate career after missing a large part of her rookie campaign due to injury.

Colleen Lynch, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., GK - New Milford, Conn.) - Lynch led Johnson & Wales to a 2-0 week, which included opening the GNAC post-season with 5-0 shutout of the eighth-seed Regis College on Saturday afternoon. Against the Pride in the conference quarterfinals, Lynch registered six saves for her second shutout of the season. Earlier in the week against Anna Maria, the New Milford, Conn. native tallied a pair of goals to help the Wildcats solidify the top seed in the GNAC post-season. 

Hailey Tarr, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Senior, D - Eliot, Maine) - Tarr helped propel the Monks to the semifinals with a goal in the second PK round versus USJ on Saturday. She was also credited with an assist in the PK win.

Caleigh O'Brien, Suffolk (Jr., F - Wilbraham, Mass.) - O'Brien had a goal and an assist in each game last week, totaling two goals and two assists for six points. The Rams closed out Rivier, 4-0, in the regular-season finale before falling to Lasell, 3-2, in the GNAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
