GNAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 6

( FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 30 - OCT. 6 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jordan Restivo, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., F - Utica, N.Y.)

Restivo helped Johnson & Wales stay perfect in conference play (5-0) by notching a pair of goals in back-to-back victories over Lasell and Colby-Sawyer for a four-goal, eight-point week. Midway through the week against Lasell, Restivo scored the opening and game-winning goal in the 28th minute on a pass from Olivia Cairrao, before adding an insurance goal in the 60th minute. Late in the week, lightning struck twice, Restivo opened finding the back of the net in eighth minute. Later in the half, she scored the game-winner in the 22nd minute on pass from Chloe Martinez. 

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Colleen Lynch, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., GK - New Milford, Conn.)

Lynch continued her dominant play in net for the Wildcats as she help Johnson & Wales remain perfect in conference action – improving to 5-0 – with back-to-back victories against Lasell. Early in the week, she picked up her first shutout of the season, the 25th of her career, by registering seven saves in a 2-0 win. Lynch closed out the week earning the the 2-1 win on the road against Colby-Sawyer where she allowed just her first conference goal of the year. In all, she stopped 12 of the 13 shots she faced for a .923 save percentage. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Alyssa Crugnale, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Fr, GK - Middleton, Mass.)

Crugnale lifted Emmanuel to its second clean sheet of the week in GNAC play, posting a shutout win over Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon. The first year keeper made five saves in the victory, holding Suffolk scoreless for just the second time all season.


WEEK 6 HONOR ROLL

Hannah Sheskey, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr, D - Scituate, Mass.) - Sheskey propelled Emmanuel to a 2-0 week in conference play, scoring a goal in wins over both Albertus Magnus and Suffolk. The junior winger netted her first collegiate goal in a 2-0 victory over Albertus Magnus and then followed it up with the game-winning goal in a 3-0 "W" at home vs. Suffolk for a four-point week.

Kaylee Francis, Regis (Mass.) (So., F - Millis, Mass.) - Francis is tops in the GNAC and tied for fourth in all of Division III with eight assists after registering two more last week, as the Pride went 1-1. Both came on Wednesday against Simmons, as she first set up the go-ahead goal in the 70th minute. In overtime, she drew the foul that established possession for the Pride in the Shark end of the field before she correctly read a short goal kick and beat the goalie for the ball, sending it towards the net for her teammate to finish with the game-winning tally. 

Ariana Gazaferi, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., M - Southington, Conn.) - Gazaferi entered this week with two career goals (one in each of her seasons). She added three more in one game, securing her first career hat trick in a 5-0 shutout of Anna Maria on October 2. She was a perfect three-for-three in shots on goal, scoring all three back-to-back-to-back. The Blue Jays went 2-0 on the week, outscoring opponents 7-1, three of those goals coming from Gazaferi. The Blue Jays have now won six straight games, and have not started 10-1-0 in a season in nearly a decade. 

Ashley Emery, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Sophomore, M - Madison, Maine) - Emery netted a pair of goals in a 2-0 week for the Monks.
