GNAC Field Hockey Report: Week 8

(FOR THE WEEK OF OCT. 15-21)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sam Taylor, Lasell (Jr., F - Hanover, Mass.)

Taylor secures her fourth GNAC Player of the Week award in a five-week span after totaling four goals in a 2-0 week for the Lasers with a pair of two-goal games, including both game-winners. She scored Lasell's first and third goals in the first 17 minutes Wednesday in a 6-0 non-conference victory over Framingham State, and she tallied Lasell's second and fourth goals, both in the first half, in a 6-1 GNAC triumph Saturday at Regis. 

 

 

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Megan Baker, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Sr, GK - Gorham, Maine)

Baker posted a 0.50 goals-against average with a .923 save percentage after stopping 12 of the 13 shots she faced in a 2-0 week for the Monks. The senior keeper made seven saves in a 3-0 win at Rivier on Tuesday and turned away five shots in a hard fought 2-1 win at UMaine-Farmington on Saturday.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Maegan Sheehy, Rivier (Fr, F - Sabattus, Maine)

Sheehy scored one goal in an 0-3 week for the Raiders, including a pair of one-goal setbacks. This marks Sheey's third straight Rookie of the Week honor. 


WEEK 8 HONOR ROLL
Aineen Callahan, Regis (Mass.) (Sr., F - Diamond Point, N.Y.) - Callahan led Regis over the past week. Tuesday night, she scored all three Pride goals as Regis rallied from a 4-1 deficit to close to within one at Simmons before time ran out. The second goal was also her 30th career goal, breaking the Regis record for most career goals. It was her first hat trick of the season and the third of her career. Thursday, she opened the scoring against Dean to send the Pride on their way to a 6-0 victory. She continues to lead the team with eight goals and 18 total points. .
