GNAC Men's Soccer Report: Week 9

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Amerle Nemeye, Norwich (So., F - Burlington, Vt.)
 
Nemeye stayed red hot with another impressive week, totaling two goals and three assists for seven points in two victories on the week for Norwich to lock up the No. 3 seed in the playoffs. Nemeye had a goal and two assists, including one on the game-winning goal in the 5-0 win over Rivier. He added a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-0 win over Regis, including scoring the game-winning goal to lead the Cadets' offense. 

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Austin Scoggin, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr., GK - Cutchogue, N.Y.)
 
Scoggin helped Johnson & Wales remain in the driver's seat of securing the No. 1 seed in the GNAC Tournament, registering eight saves in a 0-0 tie against Saint Joseph's of Maine on Saturday afternoon. The shutout was his seventh shutout of the year and fourth against GNAC opponents. The tie also snapped the Wildcats' four-game winless streak against the Monks. Scoggin also picked up another shutout, tallying a pair of saves in a 2-0 road win over Albertus Magnus.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Alec Erskine, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, M - Coventry, Conn.)
 
Erskine posted a five point week for the Saints, scoring two goals to go along with one assist. The sophomore collected three points with a goal and assist in a 4-0 shutout win over Anna Maria and followed it up with the Saints lone goal in a 1-1 draw vs. USJ. His goal vs the AMCats was the game-winner, his sixth of the year which leads the GNAC and is an Emmanuel single-season record while his goal vs. the Blue Jays was his 11th of the season, tying him for the EC single-season record.

WEEK 9 HONOR ROLL

Salah Oumorou, Albertus Magnus (Jr., F - West Haven, Conn.) - Oumorou recorded another stellar week for the Falcons as the junior forward registered a team-high five goals for 10 points in a 1-1 week. Oumorou was held to only four shot attempts and no shots on goal in a 2-0 loss to JWU, but the junior forward bounced back registering a career-high 10 points in the 8-0 win over Anna Maria behind five goals. 
  
Jonathan Ferrarini, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, GK - Hanover, Mass.) - Ferrarini posted a 0.45 goals against average over 200 minutes of work for Emmanuel, making 11 saves for a .917 save percentage while allowing just one goal on the week. The senior captain posted his 20th career victory in a 4-0 shutout win over Anna Maria to become Emmanuel's all-time leader in career victories while the shutout was the 13th of his career, tying him for the program record.
  
Jackson Burhans, Lasell (Sr., G - Berlin, N.Y.) - Burhans posted a 2-0 record with a 1.09 goals against average and a .818 save percentage with nine saves in a pair of GNAC wins. He made seven saves Wednesday in a key 3-1 conference victory over Suffolk University, and he made two saves on three shots in 74 minutes of action in Saturday?s conference win over Rivier University that clinched Lasell?s first GNAC playoff berth since 2015.
  
Joseph Thongsythavong, Norwich (Fr., F - Salem, Mass.) - Thongsythavong had a goal and two assists for four points to lead Norwich to a 2-0 week. Thongsythavong had two assists, including one of the game-winning goal in Wednesday's 5-0 win over Rivier. He also tallied a goal in the 4-0 win over Regis to lock up the No. 3 seed for the GNAC playoffs. 
 
Mitchell Duncan, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Senior, M - Sanford, Maine) - Duncan scored both of the Monks' goals in a 2-0 victory at Colby-Sawyer College on Wednesday.
 
David Walbridge, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Junior, GK - Hampden, Mass.) - Walbridge was excellent in goal for the Monks in a 2-1 week with nine saves and one goal allowed 290 minutes for a 0.31 GAA and a .900 SV%.
