GNAC Men's Soccer Report: Week 3

(FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 9 - 15)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Andrew Kalombo, Norwich (Sr., D - Worcester, Mass.)

Kalombo scored a rare goal against Saint Joseph's (Maine) to help Norwich tie the Monks for the fourth time in the last six meetings between the two teams. Kalombo headed home a goal to give the Cadets an early lead and their first goal against SJC since the 2015 season. Kalombo also played center back and helped stymie the high-octane SJC offense to just one goal.

GOALKEEPER / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Garfield Robinson, Albertus Magnus (Fr., GK - West Haven, Conn.)

In his first collegiate start in net, Robinson picked up his first college win with a nine-save effort in a 2-1 double overtime win over Suffolk this past Saturday.

WEEK 3 HONOR ROLL

Salah Oumorou, Albertus Magnus (Jr., F - West Haven, Conn.) - Oumorou came up big for the Falcons in the team's 2-1 double overtime win versus Suffolk on Saturday afternoon, notching his third game-winner of the season. With just under five minutes left, Oumorou drew a penalty in the box and bested the Rams' keeper in the right lower corner to seal the win for the Falcons.

Mason Galbato, Colby-Sawyer (So, C - North Easton, Mass.) - Galbato scored the game-winner in the 64th minute to lift Colby-Sawyer to a 1-0 victory at Lasell in the GNAC opener.

DeAnte Anderson, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., F - Bloomfield, Conn.) - Anderson lifted USJ men's soccer team to a GNAC-opening overtime victory, 2-1, on the road at Rivier Saturday. Anderson headed home the game-winning goal in the 92nd minute to give the Blue Jays the win. Just over one minute into the first overtime period, USJ was awarded a corner kick and sophomore Hayden Burbank delivered a perfect chip to the back-post where Anderson was able to leap and head in the game-winner to spring the Blue Jays to victory. It marks the first goal of the season for Anderson and his third game-winner in his career.

David Walbridge, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Junior, GK - Hampden, Mass.) - Walbridge posted a 0.45 goals against average with a .875 save percentage in a 1-0-1 week for the Monks. The junior keeper made six saves - including three in the two overtime frames - in a 1-1 tie with Norwich on Saturday.

Sunjoon Tenorio, Suffolk (Fr., F - Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands) -  Tenorio was responsible for Suffolk's lone goal in its GNAC opener, a 2-1 double overtime setback to Albertus Magnus.
