NEEDHAM, Mass. – Members of the Mount Ida College men's soccer team took time off from their spring practice schedule at the end of April to help some younger members of the community run through some drills.

NORTHFIELD, Vt.—The Norwich University men's basketball team is pleased to announce that 10-year-old Jimmy Giroux, of Colchester, Vt. has become an official member of the team. Jimmy joins the Cadets through Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization out of Quincy, Mass., that focuses on improving the quality of life for children with life-threatening illnesses by partnering them with collegiate athletic teams.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Lasell College women’s volleyball team took advantage of a rare free weekend to volunteer their time at the Boston Heart Walk. The annual event brought together over 10,000 people to participate in the one of three events, a six mile walk, a two mile walk and a one mile walk to raise money for the American Heart Association.

For the eleventh year in a row the Suffolk University community has joined together as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout the campus. In addition to their success on the playing fields and in the classrooms, Emmanuel student-athletes are actively involved each year in numerous community service and volunteer activities. The College's focus on service learning is a cornerstone routed in the mission of Emmanuel and embraced by the Saints athletic teams. Throughout the 2011-12 academic year, student-athletes engaged in various events, both through individual efforts and as team-bonding activities, which allowed the Saints to give back to the community. The meaningful experiences have taught the Saints life lessons and complimented their classroom learning.

Mastronardi completed the 116th Boston Marathon in 5:00:44, running the race for the John Mastronardi Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of her father who was an avid runner and longtime special education teacher in the Revere, MA school system.
