Ramim Bhuiya Named Assistant to the Commissioner

BOSTON, Mass. – Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Commissioner Joe Walsh is pleased to announce the appointment of Ramim Bhuiya as the NCAA intern position as GNAC Assistant to the Commissioner.  The GNAC becomes the only conference that has received NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship Grant three times while only six conferences have received the grant twice.  Bhuiya will be joining other GNAC representatives at the Division III Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship Conference in Indianapolis, IN at the NCAA headquarters.

As a 2010 graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Bhuiya is currently working towards earning his Master’s in Sports Leadership at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.  Bhuiya is familiar with NCAA Division III athletics having spent the past 3 years on the Lesley University Men’s Basketball staff. 

Prior to joining the Lesley Men’s Basketball staff, Bhuiya was the Intern for Intramural Sports and Special Events for the University of Connecticut Athletics program.  Bhuiya has also served as a scholastic official in baseball, basketball and soccer in Massachusetts and Connecticut. As an undergraduate student at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, he worked extensively with the Athletics and Campus Recreation department as a program supervisor where he founded the Student Officials’ Association. 

“We are very excited to have Ramim join the Great Northeast Athletic Conference,” said GNAC Commissioner Joe Walsh. “His background in athletic programming and passion for the field and student development will be a great asset to the conference as he jump starts his career in athletic administration”.

As the Assistant to the Commission, Bhuiya’s responsibilities will include involvement with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the execution of conference special events, and conference championships among other tasks.
