GNAC Baseball Athlete of the Week Report #8

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jacob Paschetto, Dean (So., OF)

Sophomore Jacob Paschetto put together a fantastic week in six game for Dean. He had hits in all six games and had multiple hits in five of the six. He slashed .500/.556/.708 with seven runs scored and eight RBI for the week. In addition to recording a hit in each game, he also crossed the plate in all six outings. He opened the week with a 4-for-8 showing in a doubleheader against Norwich during which he scored two runs and drove in three. He then went 2-for-4 with a run scored against Brandeis. Paschetto stayed hot in a doubleheader against Gordon, going 4-for-8 with three runs and four more driven in. He closed out the week with a 2-for-4 game against Mitchell with a run and an RBI.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Matthew Fletcher, Lasell (Jr., P)

Lasell junior Matthew Fletcher put together an impressive start for the Lasers to pull out a 2-0 GNAC win over Elms. He allowed just two hits, three walks, and struck out 10 in the outing. He retired the side in order in the first, fourth, fifth, and seventh.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sean Roeger, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., INF)

Freshman Sean Roeger picked up hits in all six games he played in for Colby Sawyer this week and had multiple hits in five of them. He slashed .500/.517/.654, recording five runs and nine RBI. He also had four doubles. One of those doubles came in his 3-for-5 game against New England College in which he also scored a run and drove in four. He then when 1-for-3 against Johnson & Wales, scoring another run in the process. After a 2-for-4 showing against the Pilgrims in their second meeting of the week, Roeger went 4-for-9 in a GNAC doubleheader against Saint Joseph’s (Maine). He concluded the week with a 3-for-5 game against Albertus Magnus in which he drove in three more runs. Roeger was also a terror on the basepaths as he swiped four bags.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Tyler Harger, Albertus Magnus - Threw 8 1/3 innings in two relief appareances, going 1-0 in the process. Pitched 2 2/3 innings against Western Connecticut, allowing two hits and walking one for the win.

Nick Choate, Anna Maria - Picked up a win, throwing seven innings of shutout ball. Allowed four hits and four walks, while striking out nine in the outing.

Cam Carignan, Colby-Sawyer - Batted .556/.600/.667 with hits in all seven games this week. Came around to score nine times, drove in one, and stole three bags.

Jack Mullen, Colby-Sawyer - Made four appearances out of the pen, tossing six innings on the week. Did not allow a run and earned three saves, while giving up only two hits. Had 10 strikeouts in total on the week.

Xavier Botelho, Johnson & Wales - Recorded hits in all three games this week, resulting in a .500/.643/.900 slash line. He scored three runs and drove in four, including a home run against Rivier.

Stephen Dunham, New England College - Earned a complete game 5-4 victory. Allowed eight hits and four runs (one earned), while striking out six and walking none.

Brock Carpenter, Norwich - Batted .526/.583/.526, including three three-hit games. Had at least one RBI in each of his five contests, totaling eight for the week. Also scored six times.

Matt Ingraffia, Norwich - Made two appearances this week, totaling seven innings. Allowed just three hits and two walks, while striking out 11. Worked six inning against New England College to earn a win.
