GNAC Baseball Athlete of the Week Report #3

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cole Lalli, Mitchell (Sr., OF/RHP)

Mitchell senior Cole Lalli put together an impressive week against a series of difficult opponents this week as the Mariners played to a 3-2 record. He slashed .533/.550/.933 across the five contests, recording hits in all five games and producing multiple knocks on three occasions. He opened week with a 2-for-3 performance against Webster, driving in a run and coming around to score himself. He followed that up with a hit in each end of doubleheader sweep of Spaulding on Wednesday (March 13). He drove in two runs in the late game of the twin bill. He stayed hot against No. 9 nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins with a pair of hits, including a double before closing out the week with another two-hit performance against SUNY Brockport. His two hits against the Golden Eagles were extremely impactful as he hit a game-tying grand slam and a go-ahead double to help Mitchell to the 9-7 come-from-behind win. He had three runs scored and nine RBI on the week and also stole a base.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Nick Choate, Anna Maria (Jr., P)

Junior Nick Choate was masterful on the mound for Anna Maria this week as the AMCATS shutout Mass Maritime, 4-0. Choate pitched a seven-inning, complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and one walk. Choate kept the Buccaneers at bay, recording 15 of his 21 outs via strikeout.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Ethan Reemsnyder, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (So., INF/OF)

University of Saint Joseph's (Conn.) Ethan Reemsnyder swung a hot bat this week, producing a .500/.556/.875 slash line. He had hits in five of six games, including four multi-hit performances. He opened the week strong with a 4-for-4 showing against Mount Saint Mary, scoring four times with two doubles and an RBI. After a 1-for-4 showing against Rutgers-Camden and a hitless game against Utica, Reemsnyder bounced back in a big way. He hit two home runs in a victory over Emerson, drove in four runs, and scored three times. He closed out the week with two more multi-hit games, with two knocks against Lawrence and three against Fitchburg State. He also scored three runs and drove in four in those last two games giving him 10 runs scored and nine RBI for the week.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

David Doherty, Anna Maria - Recorded hits in all four games for Anna Maria, inclduing four doubles. Drove in eight runs and scored four times during the week, while batting .471/.500/.706.

Dylan Watson, Colby-Sawyer - Hit safely in all seven contests, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. Ended the week with a .500/.536/.577 slash line with seven runs scored, four RBI, four stolen bases and two doubles. Also went 5 2/3 innings on the mound picking up the win with four strikeouts.

Owen Davis, Johnson & Wales - Reached safely in all five of Johnson & Wales' games, including hits in four of them. Hit two home runs this week, including a grand slam against Otterbein. Recorded seven RBI with three runs scored on the week.

Adam Marsh, Lasell - Made two appearances for the Lasers without allowing an earned run. Closed out a 6-5 decision against Earlham to earn a save before tossing a seven-inning complete game shutout against Northwestern to pick up a victory. Stuck out 10 batters on the week.

Luke Stephens, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Hit .438/.500/.875 this week with two doubles, a triple, and a home run in five games for Saint Joseph's (Maine). Came around to score three times, while driving in three.

Chase Swain, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Earned the victory, throwing 6 2/3 innings against Lawrence, allowing just four hits, two walks, and one earned run. Struck out eight batters in the outing.
