GNAC Baseball Athlete of the Week Report #6

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Luis Colon, Rivier (Jr., OF)

Junior outfielder Luis Colon batted .524/.542/.857 hit safely in all six games for Rivier this week to extend his hitting streak to seven games. He also had four multi-hit games and five of his 11 hits went for extra bases. He opened the week with a 2-for-3 showing against Lasell on Monday (April 1) during which he homered, doubled, and drove in four. He also scored a run against the Lasers. He followed that up by going 4-for-8 in a GNAC doubleheader against Norwich on Tuesday (April 2), scoring three times and driving in three more in the twin bill. Colon went 3-for-6 in a non-conference doubleheader against Springfield on Saturday (April 6) before going 2-for-4 with three runs scored against Elms on Sunday (April 7). For the week, Colon scored seven times and drove in eight runs. He also had two walks.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Matt Ingraffia, Norwich (Sr., P)

Senior pitcher Matt Ingraffia went the distance for Norwich in his only start this week, taking on preseason favorite Johnson & Wales. Ingraffia held the Wildcats at bay, scattering six hits and allowing just two runs (one earned). He struck out seven batters in the outing, while walking only two.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Vinny O'Leary, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Fr., UT)

Saint Joseph’s (Maine) freshman Vinny O’Leary had a hit in all three contests he played in for the Monks this week. Two of those games were multi-hit games, starting with a 2-for-6 performance against Plymouth State in which he recorded his first collegiate home run. O’Leary had two runs scored and two RBI in that game. After going 1-for-4 with an RBI against Dean, he closed out the week with a 2-for-5 performance against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.). He scored two runs against the Blue Jays giving him four runs scored and three RBI for the week.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Janai Cruz, Colby-Sawyer - Batted 4-for-4 in his only action for Colby-Sawyer this week, a 10-0 shutout of Dean in game one of doubleheader. Had three doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI.

Dylan Watson, Colby-Sawyer - Tossed six innings of three-hit ball in a 10-0 shutout of Dean. Struck out three batters in the process, while walking none.

Matthew Fletcher, Lasell - Threw seven shutout innings against Dean in a victory. Allowed just four hits and one walk, while striking out nine.

Cole Lalli, Mitchell - Batted .571/.667/.857 in two contests for Mitchell. Went 3-for-4 with four RBI and run scored against Anna Maria. Totaled one run and five RBI for the week.

Cooper Ribaudo, New England College - Hit .667 in two games for New England College, going 6-for-9 at the plate. Also scored four runs for the Pilgrims in the two contests.
