GNAC Women's Volleyball Athlete of the Week Report #4

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lily Sills, Rivier (Jr., MB)

Junior middle Lily Sills had an impressive showing in a 2-1 week for Rivier, averaging 3.50 kills per set, while hitting an impressive .486. She also tallied six blocks on the week. She opened the week with 11 kills and a .500 hitting performance in a five-set victory over Keene State on Tuesday (Sept. 19). She followed that up with 13 kills and a .550 hitting percentage in a three-set setback against Simmons. She also had four blocks against the Sharks. She concluded the week with her highest kill-total of the week with 18 in five sets against New England College. She hit .438 in the match, while adding four aces and two blocks. She averaged 4.2 points per set for the week.

 

SETTER OF THE WEEK

Ahnasia Mckinney, Regis (Sr., S)

Senior Ahnasia Mckinney continued to dish out the helpers for Regis this week as the Pride played to 2-1 record in non-conference play. She averaged 8.25 assists per set, while also recording 1.75 digs per set. She opened the week with 28 assists, three kills, and an ace in a three-set sweep of Wentworth on Thursday (Sept. 21). She also had four digs and a block against the Leopards. She then just narrowly missed a pair of double-doubles in a tri-match on Saturday (Sept. 23). First against Trinity, she registered 31 assists and nine digs, while also contributing three aces and three blocks. She concluded the week with a 40-assist, eight-dig performance in a five-set win over Montclair State. The 40 assists were her second-highest total of the season. She also had four kills and two blocks against the Red Hawks.

 

LIBERO OF THE WEEK

Julia Lent, Mitchell (So., L)

Sophomore libero Julia Lent had a pair of double-digit dig performances this week as Mitchell posted a 2-0 record in GNAC play. In the first match against Albertus Magnus, Lent recorded 12 digs as the Mariners earned the 3-2 victory. She also had five assists and five aces in the win. She followed that up with an extremely impressive performance, picking up 37 attacks in just three sets for a 12.33 digs per set average again Norwich. The 37 digs were a career high for Lent and placed her second in the Mariners’ record book. For the week, she had a 6.13 digs per set average.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Kason Huynh, Emmanuel (Fy., S)

First-year setter Kason Huynh had a great well-rounded week for Emmanuel as the Saint played to a 4-1 record. She averaged 2.00 kills, 3.00 assists, and 2.47 digs per set, while also contributing four blocks and 10 aces. She began the week with a pair of double-digit assist showings with 14 against Curry and 11 against Framingham State. Later in the week, she recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs against Dean. She finished the week with 12 assists against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.).

 


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Isabella Marquez, Emmanuel - Finished her week with double-digit kill totals in four of the Saints five matches this past week. The outside hitter averaged 3.56 kills per set and 3.89 digs per set, while also hitting .327 from the floor. Was responsible for 76.0 points this week, following a five-match stretch that saw Emmanuel go 4-1, including 2-0 in the GNAC.

Maddie Caro, Lasell - Averaged 4.21 digs per set in a 4-0 week for the Lasers. Had three double-digit dig performances including 23 in a five-setter against Saint Joseph's (Maine).

Jenna Blankenship, Mitchell - Recorded over 20 assists in both matches for Mitchell College. Kicked off the week by notching a double-double with 24 assists and 11 digs in a five-set victory over Albertus Magnus. Concluded the week by dishing out 22 assists in a 3-0 win at Norwich. Averaged 5.75 assists per set and 1.50 digs per set on the week.

Bliss Brown, Mitchell - Tallied 36 total kills as the Mariners went a perfect 2-0 in GNAC play. Began the week with a collegiate-best 33 kills in a five-set win at Albertus Magnus, setting the program record for most kills in a single match in the Division III era. Added 18 digs and three service aces against the Falcons, averaging six kills per set and 3.60 digs per set in the match. Averaged 6.00 kills per set and 3.00 digs per set across two matches.

Krissy Cardello, New England College - Averaged 4.33 digs per set over 12 sets this week for New England College, including 28 in a five-set thriller against Rivier.

Kamdyn Tenorio, Regis - Posted three straight double-doubles to help Regis to a 2-1 week. Finished with 12 kills and 12 digs along with two service aces and a season-high hitting percentage of .407 in a sweep of Wentworth. Then in a tri-match at Trinity collected 10 kills and 18 digs, followed by an 11-kill, 16-dig performance in a five-set victory over Montclair State. She hit .237 against the Red Hawks and collected two more service aces.

Fernanda Ayala Rodriguez, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Guided the Blue Jays to a 1-2 week, recording 56 total digs, 4.31 digs per set and 87 service receptions. Racked up a game-high 23 digs against Norwich. Tallied 18 digs in the 302 win over Dean, the first win for USJ this season. Wrapped up her week by tallying 15 digs against Emmanuel.
