GNAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 4

(FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 17-23)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cíara Forde, Simmons (Sr., M - Quincy, Mass.)

The senior tallied three goals in two matches, including a pair of game-winners. The midfielder netted the game-deciding goal to give the Sharks a 2-1 overtime victory at University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on September 19. Forde capped the week by getting Simmons on the board with the first goal of the match and then netted the game-winning marker with less than eight minutes to play in a 3-2 victory over host Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on September 22. Overall, 62.5 percent of Forde's shots were on target and 37.5 percent found the back of the net.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Lauren Williams, Simmons (Sr., GK - Bowdoinham, Maine)

The senior posted a 1.60 goals against average in 168:33 minutes over two matches, while owning a .824 save percentage with 14 saves, allowing just one goal in a 2-1 overtime victory that saw her make nine saves at University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on September 19.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Haley Andrews, Albertus Magnus (Fr., M/F - Prospect, Conn.)

In a 1-1 week, Andrews led the Falcons' attack with a week-high four goals for eight points. She recorded her first collegiate hat trick in the 7-0 shutout win at Anna Maria. Andrews scored three of her four goals against the AMCATS in the second half.


WEEK 4 HONOR ROLL 

Natalie Dash, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr., M/F - East Hampton, Conn. ) - Dash enjoyed a seven point week for the Saints, scoring three goals to go along with an assist. The junior scored in all three games for Emmanuel and has now scored in eight consecutive matches, matching the longest stretch by an Emmanuel player since 2007. Dash powered the Saints to a 2-0 record in GNAC play with goals over Rivier and Norwich and also scored in non-conference action against UMass Boston.

Olivia Cairrao, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., M - Bristol, R.I.) - Produced four goals in three games... Scored twice and had an assist in the GNAC win over Regis... Scored two goals, including the game-winner against Gordon for a total of nine points on the week.

Jordan Restivo, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Fr., F - Utica, N.Y.) - Scored a goal in two games and had six points total ... Notched a goal in the win over Regis ... Factored into all three goals in the win against Gordon. Assisted on the first two goals then scored one of her own.

Serena Speight, Lasell (Fr., M - Biddeford, Maine) - Speight collected two goals, both game-winners, and one assist in a 2-0 week for Lasell with a pair of GNAC shutouts. She scored the first goal and assisted on the fifth goal in a win Wednesday over Anna Maria, and scored the first goal Saturday in a victory over Rivier.

Carly Zdanek, Lasell (Sr., F - Newton, N.J.) - Scored four goals and added a game-winning assist in Lasell's 2-0 week, giving her two goals in four straight games. She scored Lasell's second and third goals in a GNAC shutout victory Wednesday at Anna Maria, and assisted on the first goal (game-winner) and scored the fourth and fifth goal in Saturday's 5-0 GNAC win over Rivier. 

Payton Fitzgerald, Regis (Mass.) (So., F - Danielson, Conn.) - Fitzgerald scored the game-winning goal to complete Regis's comeback against Colby-Sawyer, as the Pride defeated the Chargers, 3-2, in double overtime. It was Fitzgerald's third goal of the season, now tied for second on the team. In the 106th minute, Fitzgerald received a crossing pass and converted on her fourth shot of the match to end the contest. Of the three goals this year for Fitzgerald, two of them have been game-winning tallies. 

Sierra Romie, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., M/F - Newington, Conn.) - Romie scored her first career goal netting the game-winning goal to lift the Blue Jays to victory on the road over Suffolk, 2-1, in a GNAC battle on Saturday afternoon. The rookie scored in the 54th minute of the second half, unassisted, to propel USJ to its first GNAC win of the season.
