GNAC Women's Lacrosse Report: Week 3

( FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 9 - 15 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Dani Lydecker, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr., A - Valley Cottage, N.Y.)

Tied a season-high - just one point off her personal best - with 7 points in the win at Worcester State ... Scored four goals and added three assists ... Found the back of the net twice in the final 4 minutes of the first half to give JWU a 7-5 halftime lead it would not relinquish. 

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Brittany McPherson, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., GK - Lynn, Mass.)

McPherson helped Regis to its third victory in as many matches last Tuesday against Salem State. She made six saves, three in each half, to allow the Pride to take control as they eventually defeated the Vikings by six goals. Salem State was just 2-for-6 in free position attempts during the match. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Samantha Hogan, Simmons (Fr, A/M - Westborough, Mass.)

In two games, the first year tallied eight goals on 11 shots and added two ground balls and a draw control. The attacker tied the Simmons rookie record for goals in a game with seven to go with a ground ball and a draw control in a 17-6 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology on March 11. She began the week by scoring a goal and collecting a ground ball vs. Nazareth College on March 9.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Emily Schromm, Norwich (Jr., A - North Attleboro, Mass.) - Schromm led the Cadets with seven points during the week registering four goals and three assists while scooping up six ground balls in a pair of spring break games. The junior attacker assisted on half of the team's goals in a loss to Oneonta on Monday and then scored four goals and tacked on an assist as the Cadets held onto a slim one-goal lead late before falling to Potsdam.

Kerri Anselmo, Regis (Mass.) (Sr., A - Natick, Mass.) - Anselmo once again led the Pride offensively, scoring five goals and adding an assist as Regis defeated Salem State last Tuesday, 13-7. She scored two of Regis' first four goals to give her team the lead for good in the contest. Anselmo was a perfect 3-for-3 in free position attempts, plus she collected eight draw controls to help the Pride gain possession several times during the match. In three matches, she led the Pride with 16 goals, six assists, 22 total points, and 24 draw controls.

Taya Valdez, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., A - East Lyme, Conn.) - Valdez had eight goals and two assists for 10 points in a 1-1 week for USJ.

Molly Reinhold, Simmons (Junior, M - Mystic, Conn.) - In two contests, the junior tallied eight points on five goals and three assists and added five ground balls, six draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers. The midfielder racked up all of her points in a 17-6 win over Wentworth on March 11 and added four ground balls, four draw controls and a caused a turnover. She began the week by picking up a ground ball, winning two draws and causing a miscue against Nazareth on March 9.
