GNAC Women's Lacrosse Report: Week 8

( FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 15-21 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

Jordan McComb, Lasell  (Sr., M - Cumberland, R.I.)

Collected 19 points with 15 goals and four assists in a pair of GNAC victories for Lasell as the Lasers extended their winning streak to six games. She tallied career-high of nine goals and 12 points in a win over Emmanuel and added six goals and one assist in a victory at Albertus Magnus. She also tallied 15 draw controls, nine ground balls and seven caused turnovers in the two victories.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Brittany McPherson, Regis (Mass.) (So., GK - Lynn, Mass.) 

McPherson played another solid match as Regis stayed atop the GNAC standings with a victory over Rivier Wednesday. She made six saves while allowing just three goals for a .667 save percentage against the Raiders. McPherson made three saves in each half of the contest. After the games of April 18, McPherson is fifth in Division III in save percentage at .565 and sixth in goals against average at 6.48. 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Emily Saef, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, M - Moultonborough, N.H.)

Saef put together an 11-point week for Emmanuel, scoring seven goals while dishing out four assists. She opened the week with a seven point outing on three goals and four assists in a 21-17 win over Nichols and then scored two goals in GNAC games against both Lasell and Simmons. Saef added 11 draw control wins, nine groundballs and four caused turnovers on the week.


WEEK 8 HONOR ROLL

Sarah Morin, Colby-Sawyer (So, F - Pelham, N.H.) - Morin posted nine points on eight goals, including a game-winner, and an assist in a 1-1 week for the Chargers. She also led the team with eight ground balls and seven draw controls. Morin added the second most caused turnovers on the team with five. She began the week with a strong performance in a 15-10 victory at Nichols. She tallied six goals, an assist, six ground balls, four draws and five caused turnovers. Morin ended the week with two goals, two ground balls and three draws in a loss to Johnson & Wales. 

Allison Pazienski, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., M - New Hyde Park, N.Y.) - Pazienski had 11 goals and three assists for 14 points in a 2-0 week, including a seven-goal, two-assist performance in a 15-6 win over Colby-Sawyer. JWU (10-0 GNAC) will host Regis (10-0 GNAC) in the final game of conference regular-season play on Wednesday. 

Kate Winstanley, Norwich (Fr., A - Lansdale, Pa.) - The freshman made an astounding 24 saves on 33 shots to break the previous single-game saves record of 23 in 14-9 victory over Albertus Magnus. Formerly the Cadets' main offensive weapon, Winstanley has transitioned to goal in the last three games due to injury problems with the Cadets entire roster. She also took the loss in a 24-11 setback against NEC. 

Kerri Anselmo, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., A - Natick, Mass.) - Anselmo led Regis to its 13th straight victory Wednesday night at Rivier, 16-3, in the Pride's only game of the week. Anselmo notched her third straight hat trick and seventh of the season, scoring three goals to go with four assists, her fifth straight match with multiple assists. All seven points came in the first half as she played a role in seven of the Pride's first 10 goals of the contest. Anselmo is now tied for first in the GNAC and tied for 31st in the country with 34 assists so far this season, expanding on her single-season school record. In addition, with 74 career assists, she is now just one assist away from tying the program career assists record. 

Molly Reinhold, Simmons (Sophomore, M - Mystic, Conn.) - In two games, the sophomore tallied 11 points on nine goals and two assists to go with seven draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover. The midfielder tallied at least four points in both games, including a seven-point effort with six goals and an assist vs. USJ on April 17. She also added a pair of draw controls and a ground ball against the Blue Jays. Reinhold capped the week with three goals, an assist, five draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover vs. Emmanuel on April 20.
