GNAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week Report #7

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kelvin Cortez, Albertus Magnus (Gr., M)

Graduate student Kelvin Cortez played a part in all five goals Albertus Mangus scored this week as the Falcons played to a 2-0 record in conference play. He recorded a goal and two assists in Albertus’ 3-0 victory over Elms on Wednesday (Oct. 11) before scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over Saint Joseph’s (Maine) on Saturday (Oct. 14).

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

David Lucero, Albertus Magnus (So., GK)

Sophomore goalkeeper David Lucero earned a pair of clean sheets this week for Albertus Magnus. The first came on Wednesday (Oct. 11) in a 3-0 decision over Elms in which Lucero made three saves. He followed that up with a six-save showing as the Falcons earned the result over Saint Joseph’s (Maine), 2-0.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Matthew Dima, University Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., M)

Freshman midfielder Matthew Dima scored in both matches for the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) this week as the Blue Jays played to a 1-0-1 record. He capped off the scoring in a 4-0 victory over New England College on Wednesday (Oct. 11) before scoring the opening goal in a 2-2 draw with Colby-Sawyer on Saturday (Oct. 14).


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Rubelsi Moran, Anna Maria - Recorded a goal in each of Anna Maria's conference games this week as the AMCATS went 2-1.

Jacob Friedman, Johnson & Wales - Went 2-0-1 last week and became the program's all-time leader in wins with 39. He allowed just one goal in three matches, finishing with a 0.36 GAA and an .899 save pct as the Wildcats extended their unbeaten streak to 10.

Logan Cassin, New England College - Recorded four goals in three games this week, including a hat trick against Rivier in a GNAC victory.

Diego Fuentes, Norwich - Had back-to-back multi-point matches recording two assists each in GNAC victories over Mitchell and Lasell.

Ethan Donahue, Regis - Made six saves, three saves in each half, for his first collegiate shutout in a victory over Dean.

Michael Torres, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Paced the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) offense with two assists and a goal. Recored both helpers during the 4-0 victory against New England College before scoring a last second penalty kick to steal a draw against Colby-Sawyer.
