GNAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week Report #6

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Conner Elliott, Johnson & Wales (Jr., M)

Junior midfielder Conner Elliott had a five-point game in a big GNAC win for Johnson & Wales this week. He had two goals and an assist in a 4-0 victory over University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), serving up the Blue Jays’ first loss in conference play this year. He was the one who opened the scoring for the Wildcats, earning him credit for the  game-winner.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Maddox Pierce, Emmanuel (So., GK)

Sophomore goalkeeper Maddox Pierce backstopped Emmanuel to a pair of GNAC victories this week. His margin of error was miniscule as both victories came by just a single score each. He began the week, making two saves in a 3-2 result over Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday (Oct. 3). He followed that up stopping all four shots Albertus Magnus would send his way, earning the 1-0 clean sheet.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Seiki Thasith Jamnongnorawut, Emmanuel (Fy., F)

Emmanuel first-year Seiki Thasith Jamnongnorawut scored the first goal of his collegiate career this week and it couldn’t have come at a better time. His tally was the only goal in a 1-0 victory for the Saints as they defeated Albertus Magnus in GNAC play on Saturday (Oct. 7).


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Kelvin Cortez, Albertus Magnus - Had two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in comeback win over Lasell.

Rubelsi Moran, Anna Maria - Scored both goals in a 2-1 GNAC win over Rivier. 

Nicolas Lanza, Norwich - Produced a clean sheet against Saint Joseph's (Maine) making two saves with time winding down to preserve the shutout. Also made one save in a 1-1 draw against Elms.

Cullen Swett, Norwich - Score three goals this week, all on penalty kicks. His first, against Saint Joseph's (Maine) proved to be the game winner and would bury a second one for good measure in the second half. He also converted a penalty kick in the 89th minute vs Elms equalizing the game leading to a draw.

Wyatt Flibbert, New England College - Scored three goals in a pair of wins for New England Collge this week, including a game-winner against Mitchell on Saturday (Oct. 7). 

Hayden Walker, New England College - Led New England College to a 2-0 week with a 1.05 goals against average and a .714 save percentage.

Juan Torres, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Racked up four points off one goal and two assists. Led the USJ offense in the 5-1 victory against Regis, dishing out two assists and scoring one goal.
