GNAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Report #8

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Madeleine Gould, Johnson & Wales (Sr., A)

Senior Madeleine Gould was a force for the Wildcats offensively as the Oakdale, Conn. native tallied 16 points on eight goals and eight assists as JWU went 2-0 last week. She racked up 11 points (4-7-11) in a win over Elms on Tuesday, then notched five (4-1-5) in a road win at USJ on Saturday. Gould also collected four ground balls, won 11 draw controls, and caused two turnovers in the process for JWU.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Daniela Mazo, Regis (Jr., GK)

Junior Daniela Mazo was strong in her lone appearance, leading the Pride to victory in net over Lasell on Senior Day. The Bridgeport, Conn. native made 11 saves in the victory, including six in the second half, helping to hold the Lasers to just one goal after halftime.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Alice Rourke, Lasell (Fr., M)

First-Year Alice Rourke was dominant on the offensive side for the Lasers as the Norwich, Conn. native scored 14 goals on the week and assisted once to give the Lasers three victories (two GNAC). Rourke scored six in a win over New England College before posting five points (four goals, assist) in win over Salem State before pouring in four against Regis. She collected eight ground balls on the week as well.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Heather Hanson, Colby-Sawyer - Helped the Chargers to a 1-1 week. Against undefeated in conference Norwich, Hanson dished out three assists and scored a goal. She would follow that with a five-goal, two assist performance against Elms that helped the Chargers bounce back and also made her the career assists leader in the program.

Shea Cassani, Dean - Collected 17 saves in two GNAC victories for the Bulldogs, posting a 63.0% save percentage.

Natalie Peterson, Dean - Had seven goals and three assists for 10 points in a 2-0 week along with five ground balls and 11 draw controls. 

Madeline Wright, Emmanuel - Had nine goals and an assist on the week with seven coming in a tight victory over Simmons. Collected eight draw controls as well.

Emma Glyman, Johnson & Wales - Posted a 65.0% save pct. and went 2-0 last week for the Wildcats as she stopped 10 shots in a win over Elms before notching three in a road win at USJ on Saturday.

 

Meadow Gilchrist, New England College - Scored eight goals and added three assists across two games this week for the Pilgrims. Seven goals against Mitchell on Saturday tied her career-high set earlier this season. With the 11-point week, the junior sits third in the GNAC in total points. Added 12 draw controls, two caused turnovers, and three ground balls.

Caitlyn Fielder, Norwich - Anchored Norwich on both ends of the field during a 2-0 week in GNAC play, tallying eight goals and dominating possession with 11 draw controls and seven caused turnovers. 

Mackenzie Siebert, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Scored eight goals and collected five ground balls for the Monks in a 2-0 week.

Frida Turriza, Simmons - Guided the Sharks to a 1-1 week, which included an 8-6 win on the road over Rivier University on Tuesday evening. Over the course of the two-game week, Turriza registered six goals and three assists for nine points, while tallying three ground balls and three caused turnovers. In addition, the New Hampshire native notched her eighth hat-trick of the season with three goals against the Raiders and Saints.
