WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Laura List, Simmons (Sr., Bedford, Mass.)
 
The senior won all three individual events and helped the Sharks win the 200-yard freestyle relay to contribute to a 180-120 victory at Mount Holyoke College on January 25. List earned a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a mark of 1:04.69 and later sprinted to a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.04. She capped her individual efforts with a time of 57.57 to touch the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle. The Co-Captain finished the day by swimming the anchor leg of Simmons' win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, helping post a time of 1:45.56.

MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Brendan Lynch, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., Watertown, Conn.)
 
Lynch and the Blue Jays had a program-defining performance in a 143-47 win over Eastern Conn. on January 21. Lynch added wire-to-wire victories in the 50 Back and 50 Free, the former in 24.71 seconds, and the latter in 29.05, 2.3 seconds ahead of second place. He also claimed victory in the 100 IM. 143 was the most points ever scored in a dual meet in program history
Nikki Ansley, Norwich (Fr., Berlin, Germany)
 
At Saturday's home dual against WPI, Ansley won the women's 50 yard freestyle in 25.52 Ansley went on to win the women's 100 yard freestyle in 56.54 and the women's 100 yard IM in 1:05.76.
 

MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Evan Whaley, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Fr., Merrimack, N.H.)
 
Whaley won the 400-IM (4:47.00) and 100-Free (53.32) versus Husson University on Saturday.

WEEK 11 HONOR ROLL
   
Kelsey Brown, Colby-Sawyer (So., Douglas, Mass.) - Brown guided the Chargers to sweep the team's double-dual meet against Gordon and Maine Maritime on Saturday. The sophomore posted a season best time to win the 100-butterfly in 1:01.69.Brown also won the final women's individual event of the afternoon. She touched the wall first in the 100-breaststroke in a time of 1:16.41. Brown was also a member of the 200-medley relay winning team.
 
Rebecca Lee, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., Redding, Conn.) - Lee helped the Chargers claim a pair of wins in a double-dual meet against Gordon and Maine Maritime on Saturday. The first-year swimmer came away with a victory in the 50-freestlye with a season best time of 27.33. She also posted the lone sub-minute result to win the 100-freestlye with a season best time of 59 seconds flat. Lee was also part of the winning 400-freestyle relay team.
 
Garrett Scahill, Colby-Sawyer (Jr., Manville, R.I.) - Scahill led the men's swim team with three individual victories to earn the Chargers a split at Saturday's double-dual meet with Gordon and Maine Maritime. He began the day by taking top honors in the 200 freestyle with a season best time of 1:55.21. Scahill then won the 100-butterfly with the only sub-minute swim of 58.59. Scahill added to his win total for the day with a victory in the 100-backstroke at 59.40
 
Megan Duffy, Norwich (So., Shelton, Conn.) - On Saturday against WPI, Duffy took first in the women's 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.98. Megan wasn't done, as she won the women's 500 yard freestyle in 5:20.83, breaking a 20-year-old school record in the process. She also swam the anchor leg on the winning women's 200 yard freestyle relay team.
 
Shelby Cios, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., Rocky Hill, Conn.) - Cios snagged four wins in a 163-96 dual meet win over Eastern Conn. on January 21. It was the first win for swim over Eastern since 1997. Cios triumphed in the 200 Medley Relay, 50 Breaststroke, 100 Breaststroke and 100 Individual Medley. Cios and the Blue Jays set the tone in the first event, dominating the 200 Medley Relay in 2:04.60, nearly 14 seconds ahead of the Warriors' relay. Weir also won three tight events, including the 100 IM with a 1:12.06, 1.5 seconds in front of second place
 
Alexia Weir, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., Hebron, Conn.) - Weir, who was fresh off shattering the USJ Varsity 100 Backstroke record last week, claimed four wins in a 163-96 rout of Eastern Conn. on January 21. It was the first time since 1997 that a USJ swim team defeated Eastern. Weir won the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free, 100 Back, and 500 Free. In an event she is not accustomed to, Weir put the team on her back with her win in the 500 Free, leaving a little in the tank in the final 100 yards. She finished first in 5:51.77, three-tenths of a second ahead of second place. Weir walked away in the 200 Free, winning with a time of 2:14.74, 19.25 seconds ahead of second place alone, and more than 30 seconds ahead of the closest Eastern swimmer.
 
Katelyn Quinlan, Simmons (Fr., Haverhill, Mass.) - The first year racked up 16 points with first, second and third-place efforts in the Sharks 180-120 victory at Mount Holyoke College on January 25. Quinlan earned a two-plus second victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.39. She added a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:38.39 and placed third in the 100-yard individual medley with a mark of 1:07.85. The rookie began the meet by helping Simmons finish second in the 200-yard medley relay, swimming the breaststroke leg to help combine for a time of 2:00.91
