WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Áine Scholand, Simmons (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.) The senior scored 74 points for the fourth-highest total against host MIT, Tufts, Keene State, RPI, Wellesley and Wheaton at the three-day MIT Swimming & Diving Winter Invitational in Cambridge, Mass. Scholand tallied three top-six finishes and won the 1650-yard freestyle by over 26 seconds with a time of 17:08.97. She placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 5:03.84 and registered a sixth-place effort in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.37. In addition, the senior placed 14th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.44 and added a 15th-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle with a mark of 54.90. Scholand was an integral part of the Sharks relay teams as well, helping the 400-yard relay place 10th with a time of 3:40.52, while leading the 800-yard relay to an 11th-place effort on a time of 8:03.31. She swam on the 200-yard freestyle relay that placed 12th with a time of 1:56.29 as well as the 400-yard medley relay team for a time of 4:09.60 to place 17th. |

MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Brendan Pike, Regis (So., Weymouth, Mass.) Pike won two individual events during the Regis Invitational Sunday, setting a new Regis Pool record during one of the victories. Pike won the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:27.57, 2.38 seconds faster than the previous pool record established six years ago. He also won the 50 breaststroke in 30.58 seconds, almost two full seconds in front of his nearest competitor. In addition, Pike finished second in the 500 freestyle by just a half-second with a time of 5:01.81 as well as in the 1650 freestyle in 17:46.20, 32 seconds faster than his time in the mile at last year's Regis Invitational. |

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Eva Piernas, Simmons (Fr., Hopkinton, N.H.) The first year was the highest-scoring newcomer for the Sharks with nine points against host MIT, Tufts University, Keene State College, RPI, Wellesley College and Wheaton College at the MIT Swimming & Diving Winter Invitational. The rookie placed 16th in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:50.73 to go with a 19th-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best mark of 5:22.32.She also helped the Sharks place 11th in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:03.31. |

MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Max Isley, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., Valparaiso, Ind.) Isley swam two season-best times to come away with a pair of individual victories at Saturday's meet against UMass Dartmouth. Isley claimed first in the 50-freestyle with a time of 23.89 and followed with a winning time of 53.09 in the 100-freestyle. |

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region.
