GNAC Swimming & Diving Report: Week 10

(FOR THE WEEK OF JAN. 21 - JAN. 27)

MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 

Stephen Quinlan, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Sr., Andover, Mass.)

In head to head action versus Western New England on Saturday, senior Stephen Quinlan (Andover, Mass.) won the 50-Breast (31.02), 100-Breast (1:08.25) and 100-IM (1:00.47) and swam a leg for the Monks' winning 200-Medley relay, which posted a 1:56.87 time.

 

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Jinnae Jang, Colby-Sawyer (So., Fall River, Mass.)

Jang was part of the 400 medley and 400 freestyle winning relay teams to help the Chargers earn a 113-78 victory at Elms. She also collected a pair of individual wins on the day. Jang took the top spot in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.18 and won the 50 butterfly in 28.31.

 

MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 

Nathan Landry, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Fr., Derry, N.H.)

In head to head action versus Western New England on Saturday, Nathan Landry (Derry, N.H.) won the 100-Fly (1:00.03) and 50-Free (25.91) and placed second in the 50-Fly (26.70) and swam a leg for the Monks' winning 200-Medley relay, which posted a 1:56.87 time

 

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sarah Singleton, Simmons (Fr., Mission Hills, Calif.)

The first year won both events that she entered and helped the Sharks to a relay victory as well. The rookie was was the fastest in a 1-2-3 sweep of the 100-yard butterfly for the Sharks with a time of 1:02.93, before winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.00. The West Coast native swam the butterfly leg of the 400-yard medley relay to contribute to a winning time of 4:13.23.

 


WEEK 10 HONOR ROLL

Kelsey Brown, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., Douglas, Mass.) Brown helped the Colby-Sawyer women?s swim team to a 113-78 victory at Elms on Saturday. She was a member of the winning 400 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. Brown added a win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:21.83 and finished second in the 100 freestyle at 58.48.

Kerry Fleming, Simmons (Sr., Northampton, Mass.) The senior tied as the highest scorer of a dual meet victory over Mount Holyoke College on January 26 after winning both individual events that she entered and also helped the Sharks to a pair of relay victories. The four-year standout dominated the 1000-yard freestyle by over 22 seconds with a mark of 11:07.97 and later added a first-place effort in the 100-yard individual medley by four-plus seconds with a time of 1:03.92. Fleming was part of two winning relays for Simmons, swimming the lead backstroke to open the meet in the 400-yard medley relay, helping to combine on a time of 4:13.23. Fleming anchored the 400-yard freestyle in a joint-effort time of 3:49.90.
