GNAC Men's Volleyball Athlete of the Week Report #10

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Michael Shelley, Emmanuel (So., OH)

Sophomore outside hitter Michael Shelley helped Emmanuel to a 2-2 week in conference play, averaging 5.25 kills per set on a .302 hitting percentage. After playing only one set in a sweep of Dean, Shelley produced three straight double-digit kill performances. He had 13 against Wentworth in a 3-0 set back before setting a career-high with 33 finishes in a five-set victory over Lasell. He closed out the week with 15 kills in a sweep of Rivier. In addition to his 63 kills, Shelley also had three service aces.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Louis Da Silva, Emmanuel (Jr., MB)

Junior middle blocker Louis Da Silva averaged over a block per set this week for Emmanuel. He recorded three blocks in just one set of a 3-0 sweep of Dean to start the week and had one block against Wentworth. He then had back-to-back five block games as the Saints lost in five sets to Lasell and won in three sets against Rivier. For the week, he averaged 1.17 blocks per set with two solo stops and 12 assisted.

SETTER OF THE WEEK

Dominic DeFerrari, Emmanuel (So., S)

Sophomore Dominic DeFerrari played in three matches this week for Emmanuel, averaging 9.91 assists per set. He reached double-digits in all three contests, starting with 24 helpers against Wentworth in a 3-0 defeat. He followed that up with a career-high 53 assists in a five-set defeat at the hands of Lasell. DeFerrari closed out the week with 32 assists in a 3-0 sweep of Rivier to secure the GNAC victory.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Nick Uschmann, Elms (Fy., RS)

First-year right side Nick Uschmann was solid on the attack for Elms this week as the team went 2-1. He averaged 2.73 kills per set, while swinging at a .390 clip. After producing five kills against Sage and six against Wentworth, Uschmann smashed 19 kills in a 3-1 victory over Dean. Ushmann was also a presence at the net, picking up four blocks, including three against the Leopards.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

John Bellafronte, Elms - Recored 1.00 blocks per set in a 2-1 week. Blocked 11 shots in total across three matches inclduing four solo stops and seven assisted.

Theo Zaharewicz, Lasell - Averaged 3.67 kills per set with a .411 hitting percentage. Had three double-digit kill games with 12 against Regis, 17 against Emmanuel, and 21 against Rivier. Also had eight service aces on the week.

Chris Lezon, Rivier - Averaged 1.15 blocks per set across four matches. Had six blocks against Eastern Nazarene alone. For the week, produced five solo blocks and 10 assisted.

Neil Rea, Rivier - Averaged 9.14 assists per set in four matches for Rivier. Had double-digit assist performances in all four matches, topping out with 40 against Eastern Nazarene.

Mason Andrade, Wentworth - Averaged 3.22 kills per set in three matches and hit at a .558 rate. Produced back-to-back double-digit kill showings with 14 against Dean and 15 against Elms.
