MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – The Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team defeats Anna Maria College 20-0 at Gaudet Field on Thursday evening in non-conference play.

The Seahawks shook off some early turnovers and sloppy passes to score eight goals in the first quarter, never looking back in route to the win.

Winning the groundball battle 41-16, and going 21 for 24 at the faceoff circle allowed the Seahawks to control the game, leading to a 44-6 advantage in shots for Salve Regina.

Once in the attacking zone the Seahawks work the ball around the perimeter until they were able to get someone open in the slot area for a score.

The AMCATS, along with struggling on face-offs had difficulty clearing when they did gain possession. The Seahawks stood strong at the midfield stripe, forcing errand passes, and back checking to create loose balls.

13 different players scored for the Seahawks with Matt Heeter (Wading River, N.Y.) and Zach Makoske (Shoreham, N.Y.) both notching hat-tricks.

Matt D'Amore (Duxbury, Mass.) and Andrew Watkins (Natick, Mass.) both stopped three shots in the shutout for Salve Regina while Rhode Island native Zachary Sylvia (Tiverton, R.I.) stopped five shots for the AMCATS.

The Seahawks improve to 4-4 on the season while the AMCATS fall to 1-10 overall. The Seahawks will take momentum into Easter break then return with a road match versus Western New England on April 8 as the team returns to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action. The AMCATS will host Mount Ida on April 7 at 7 p.m.
