PAXTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (13-3, 6-0 GNAC) raced past Anna Maria College (7-7, 3-3 GNAC), 5-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey contest on Thursday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sophomore Emma Rutledge (Alfred, Maine) scored twice while senior Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) and junior Alexandra Belaire (Greene, Maine) recorded a goal and an assist apiece to help the Monks remain undefeated in conference play.
Sophomore Meghan Hill also found the back of the cage while freshman Megan Quirion contributed with two assists and freshman Sophia Jacques (Peru, Maine) was also credited with a helper in the one-sided triumph.
THE KEEPERS:
SJC junior Alexandria Simpson (Pascoag, R.I.) posted a pair of saves to notch her fourth shutout of the year while Anna Maria starter Hannah Tobey tallied 12 stops in a losing effort.
TEAM STATS:
Saint Joseph's held the lead in shots (24-2), shots on goal (18-2), and penalty corners (18-1) on the afternoon.
NOTEWORTHY:
With the win, the Monks extend their winning streak versus conference opponents to 19 games (regular & postseason) – the team's last loss to a GNAC foe was a 2-1 setback at the hands of Lasell on October 7th, 2017.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
With the win Saint Joseph's improves to 16-3 in the history of the series against Anna Maria College and has now defeated the AMCATS in six-consecutive meetings dating back to the 2014 campaign.
