GNAC Women's Basketball Report: Week 12

( FOR THE WEEK OF JAN. 28 - FEB. 3 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr, G - Cambridge, Mass.)

The junior averaged 17.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week, double-doubling (15 PTS, 15 REB) in a road blowout over JWU before registering 19 points and 10 boards in just 16 minutes of run on Saturday against Lasell. She shot 45.5% overall (15-33 FG) and was 4-of-5 from the FT line. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Dede Stevenson, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Fr., G - Hartford, Conn.)

Stevenson averaged 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals while shooting 47/40/100% in a pair of JWU losses last week. She tied her career-high with 30 points (12-23 FG, 2-5 3PT, 2-2 FT) to go with eight boards and three steals (just one turnover) against No. 11 SJC. She also had eight points and five rebounds against conference powerhouse Emmanuel. 


WEEK 12 HONOR ROLL
Shyla Osmond, Albertus Magnus (Jr., G - New Haven, Conn.) - In the Falcons' only game of the week, Osmond scored 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting and 4-of-4 from the FT line to go with nine rebounds, six assists and three steals in a 79-59 win over Norwich. 

Amber Wilson, Anna Maria (SO, G - New York, N.Y.) - Wilson averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds 3.5 assists and 3.0 blocks in a 2-0 week. She had 18 points and 12 boards in a 58-49 win over Norwich before posting 16 points, four caroms, five assists and four blocks in an 84-60 win over USJ. 

Maddie McLaughlin, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, G - Westerly, R.I., 23) - McLaughlin shot 76.5% (13-17 FG) overall in a 2-0 week en route to averaging 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists for the Saints in just 21.5 minutes per game.

Valerie Martin, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., G/F - Derry, N.H.) - Martin averaged 11.7 points and 7.7 rebounds in a 2-1 week. She double-doubled (10 PTS, 11 REB) in a win at Colby-Sawyer before registering 19 points and nine boards in a win over Rivier. 

Kaylee Kacavas, Rivier (Sr, G - Dracut, Mass.) - In an 0-2 week, Kacavas scored 30 or more points in each game for the Raiders. Against No. 11 SJC, she registered 30 points (11-19 FG, 1-4 3PT, 7-7 FT), five rebounds and seven assists before scoring 34 with three boards and three assists in a loss to Regis. 

Hannah Marks, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (SR, F - Waldoboro, Maine) - Marks was a sharpshooter in the Monks' 2-0 week, shooting 71.4% (15-21) from the floor, 61.5% (8-13) from three-point range, and 100% (5-5) from the FT line to average 21.5 points in a pair of conference victories. The senior guard was nearly perfect from the floor (10-11) and downtown (4-5) with 24 points versus Rivier on Thursday and added 19 points with four rebounds against JWU on Saturday. 

Cassandra Stapelfeld, Simmons (So, G - Brookline, N.H.) - The sophomore averaged 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists in a 1-1 week, highlighted by a 42-point effort in a 76-59 win at USJ last Tuesday. In the victory, she shot an impressive 17-of-25 overall and 6-of-9 from three-point range to go with five rebounds and three steals. She also had seven points and five assists in a 70-55 road setback against Suffolk. 

Jenni-Rose DiCecco, Suffolk (So., G - Falmouth, Mass.) - DiCecco averaged 18.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.0 steals in a 3-0 week, highlighted by a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double at Pine Manor and a 26-point performance against Simmons.
