GNAC Men's Volleyball Athlete of the Week Report #6

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jacob LaBouliere, Wentwoth (Sr., OH)

Senior outside hitter Jacob LaBouliere led the way on the attack for No. 1 ranked Wentworth in a GNAC victory over Rivier Friday (Feb. 23). He averaged an impressive 4.75 kills per set on a .441 hitting mark. In total, he had a game-high 19 kills on 34 attack attempts for the Leopards. LaBouliere also chipped in a bit on the defensive side as well, collecting three total blocks and two digs as Wentworth remains undefeated in both GNAC and overall play.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Eddie Djatcha, Regis (Fy., M)

First-year middle Eddie Djatcha led the Pride defensively to two tri-match victories over Fisher and American International College on Friday (Feb. 23), averaging 1.75 blocks per set and 2.50 kills per set. Against Fisher, he collected a block, while also collecting three kills on his three attack attempts. The next match, he collected six total blocks and seven kills on 10 attempts. 

SETTER OF THE WEEK

Josh Milke, Wentworth (Jr., S)

Junior setter Josh Milke faciliated the Leopard offense in their GNAC victory match over Rivier. Milke produced a game-high 49 assists for Wentworth, averaging 12.25 assists per set. The junior also chipped in five digs, two total blocks, and a service ace to help keep the No. 1 Leopards remain undefeated in both GNAC and overall play.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Brandon Valdes, Regis (Fy., OH)

First-year outside hitter Brandon Valdes contributed to their two tri-match victories, averaging 3.50 kills per set and a .300 hitting mark. Valdes contributed four kills, three service aces, two digs, and a solo block against Fisher. The first-year followed up with 10 kills, five total blocks, and three service aces over American International College.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Luis Castillo, Dean - Averaged 4.25 digs per set to help Dean to a copule of 3-1 victories. Recorded a match-high 19 digs then followed with 15 more digs in both wins over VTSU Johnson.

Arthur Felicio, Dean - Led Dean in a 2-0 week with 25 total kills and 3.13 kills per set. Had back-to-back double-digit kill performances and six digs per match.

Jesus Garcia, Lasell - Averaged 8.92 assists per set, recording at least 30 in each his three matches. Also passed the 3000-assist mark in his match agains Elms.

Grant Wojcik, Regis - Finished with 10 assists along with two kills, a service ace, and two digs in his only set against Fisher. Then earned 31 assists in a 3-0 sweep of American International. Averaged 10.33 assists per set on the week.

Brandon Dunz, Wentworth - Recorded over a dig per set in a four-set GNAC victory over Rivier. Had five total blocks with one solo and four assisted stops.
