GNAC Men's Volleyball Athlete of the Week Report #5

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Michael Shelley, Emmanuel (So., OH)

Sophomore outside hitter Michael Shelley helped Emmanuel pick up a couple of wins this week, averaging 6.00 kills per set with a .318 hitting percentage. He opened the week with an impressive 27 kills in a four-set win over Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday (Feb. 14) before contributing 15 kills in a 3-0 conference sweep of Regis. Shelley also had eight service aces on the week and averaged 7.3 points per set.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Trey Guest, Emmanuel (So., RS)

Sophomore right side Trey Guest was a defensive force in multiple ways in Emmanuel's 2-0 week. He averaged 2.14 digs per set, including a career-high 12 dig performance in a 3-1 win over Eastern Nazarene. He added three more digs against Regis in 3-0 GNAC sweep. Guest was also an intimidating presence at the net as he came away with eight total blocks during the week. Five of those came against ENC with the remaining three coming against the Pride.

SETTER OF THE WEEK

Josh Milke, Wentworth (Jr., S)

Wentworth setter Josh Milke produced two more impressive showings running the Leopards offense. He averaged 12.50 assists per set as his team went 2-0. First against Lasell in a GNAC battle, Milke produced 57 assists in a four-set win to give him a 14.25 assist per set average. He continued his strong play in a 3-1 win over Nichols, dishing out 43 more helpers. He also had one kill, six digs, and four blocks on the week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Andrew Matzouranis, Regis (Fy., OPP)

First-year opposite Andrew Matzouranis contributed to a 1-1 week for Regis this week with 2.50 kills per set and .344 hitting percentage. He had six kills in a GNAC sweep of Emerson on Thursday (Feb. 15) before putting down nine attacks against Emmanuel on Saturday (Feb. 17) in a losing effort. The Pride rookie also had three blocks this week, all against the Lions.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Rafa Artero, Elms - Averaged nearly a block per set for Elms, recording at least two in each of its three contests. Had four block assists against MIT, a solo block and three assisted against SUNY Postdam, and two solo stops against Brooklyn.

Dominic DeFerrari, Emmanuel - Registered a stellar 11.14 assists per set in two matches for Emmanuel. Produced a career-high 46 hlepers in a 3-1 win over Eastern Nazarene followed by 32 assists in a sweep of Regis.

Orlando Plagata, Regis - Picked up 3.83 digs per set as a staple back row player for Regis. Had 15 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Emerson on Thursday (Feb. 15).

Jacob Waga, Wentworth - Averaged 2.88 kills per set with .346 hitting percentage in Wentworth's 2-0 week. Had double-digit kills in both contests with 10 against Lasell and 13 against Nichols.
