GNAC Men's Volleyball Athlete of the Week Report #1

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jacob LaBouliere, Wentworth (Sr., OH)

Wentworth senior outside hitter Jacob LaBouliere had 30 kills this week as the Leopards started off their year with a pair of non-conference victories. First, he contributed 13 scores in a three-set victory over MIT, giving him a 4.33 kills per set average. He also recorded three aces in the contest. LaBouliere then pitched in 17 kills in a five-set win over No. 1 nationally-ranked Stevens. Overall for the week, he averaged 3.75 kills per set and swung at a .250 clip.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brandon Dunz, Wentworth (Gr., MH)

Graduate student Brandon Dunz was an imposing presence at the net as Wentworth opened its 2024 campaign with two strong victories. Dunz denied 12 opportunities in the two matches giving him an average of 1.50 blocks per set. First, in a three-set sweep of MIT, Dunz recorded seven blocks. He followed that up with five denials in a five-set thriller as the Leopards took down No. 1 nationally-ranked Stevens.

SETTER OF THE WEEK

Josh Milke, Wentworth (Jr., S)

Junior setter Josh Milke averaged 9.00 assists per set this week as Wentworth started the year with a couple of non-conference wins. He handed out 28 assists in a 3-0 sweep of MIT, giving him a 9.33 assist per set average. He also pitched in three kills, four digs, and three blocks against the Engineers. He then dished out 44 helpers for a 8.80 assists per set average as the Leopards took down No. 1 nationally-ranked Stevens in five sets. He also had a kill, two aces, five digs, and a block against the Ducks.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Conner Foxwell, Wentworth (Fr., MH)

Freshman middle hitter Conner Foxwell got his collegiate career off to a strong start as he found his way into the Wentworth rotation against No. 1 nationally-ranked Stevens. He played in all five sets of the match, recording 11 kills and committing only a single attack error for a .625 hitting percentage. Foxwell also contributed defensively, denying four opportunities, including two solo blocks.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Jesus Garcia, Lasell - Contributed 9.11 assists per set during Lasell's 2-3 week. Eclipsed the 30-assist plateau four times, including a 42-helper showing against Juniata and a 51-assist game against St. John Fisher. Also averaged 1.42 digs per set and contributed seven blocks on the week.

Brenden Joyce, Lasell - Produced 3.26 kills per set for Lasell as the Lasers went 2-3 to open the season. Contributed double-digit kills in four of the five contests and finished the week with a .325 hitting percentage. Also contributed six aces on the week.

Tyrell Bucasas, Regis - Averaged 9.25 assists per set as Regis went 1-1. Topped off at 44 helpers in a five-set setback against American International. Also averaged 1.50 digs per set.

Joseph Perez, Regis - Recorded an impressive 4.38 kills per set for Regis as it opened the year at 1-1. Finished off 25 attacks in a five-set loss to American International, which was he second-highest kill total in program history. Also reached double-figures with 10 kills in a conference match against Elms.
