Colby-Sawyer Cruises to Fourth-Straight GNAC Women’s Cross Country Championship

STANDISH, Maine – For the fourth year in a row, it was Colby-Sawyer hoisting the trophy at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Cross Country Championship. The Chargers scored 35 points in the six-kilometer race on the campus of Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday (Nov. 4).

The four-time reigning champions had four All-Conference honorees, including individual champion Adriana Nadeau who completed the course in 25:23. Also earning First Team All-GNAC honors was third place finisher Tessa Millette who finished in 26:13. The Chargers also had two Second Team All-Conference honorees in Heather Hanson and Leah O'Neill, who placed ninth and 11th, respectively, with times of 28:16 and 28:29. Maisy Hill was Colby-Sawyer's finish scorer, placing 16th at 28:56.

Regis finished as the GNAC Championship runner-up for the second-straight year with a team score of 81. Libby Parker was the Pride's pacer. She earned First Team All-Conference honors with a seventh place finish and a time of 27:58. Jonnie Charest was an All-Conference Second Teamer finishing 13th at 28:39.

Norwich took third in this year's race, led by freshman Cece Winters, an All-GNAC First Teamer in sixth place at 27:41. The Cadets were trailed closely by Lasell, which had two All-Conference honorees, including individual runner-up Kiara Cerruti. Cerruti finished with a time of 25:59. Her teammate Katherine Kohtala was an All-Conference Second Teamer based on her eighth place finish.

Emmanuel and Simmons each had one All-Conference honoree, which helped them place fifth and sixth in the team competition. The Saints' top runner was First Teamer Emma Krantz, who placed fifth at 27:07, while the Sharks were led by Second Teamer Sara Hornak, the 12th place finisher.

Johnson & Wales, Saint Joseph's (Maine), and Dean rounded out the team standings. The Wildcats were led by Avery Goshert, who was an All-GNAC Second Teamer, while the Monks and Bulldogs were led by Ava Moffett and Kokoro Okada, respectively.

The University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) and New England College did not have enough finishers to qualify for the team competition, but their individual runners did have impressive showings. Faith Shores recorded a fourth place finish for the Blue Jays with a time of 26:59 and was named to the All-Conference First Team. Meanwhile, the Pilgrims were led by Keegan Finley, who placed 10th for Second Team recognition.

Elms, Mitchell, and Rivier also had individual runners compete with their respective leaders being Evelyn Pohlman, Anna Kate Kochansky, and Sophia Lunati.
